So would that Qualify as the Roman Catholic Church acknowledging that Islam worships the same God as Catholicism? (I'll point out that Ratzinger has yet to make that statement and will politely refrain from quoting the rather...biased literature I was given in light of my upcoming marriage)

If so, that would be a good step forward on the interfaith scale.

Cool, I didn't know Indonesian Christians use Allah, but Arab Christians and Jews do. It's not a different entity no matter how hard people try to spin it, it's just a different language. American Muslims when speaking to other Americans say God, Spanish speaking Muslims say Dios, French speaking Muslims say Dieu... you get the point.

I think he's a good man for trying to foster good relations between the different religious community. I'm sure he'll get a lot of backlash, but it's certainly unfortunate that more people can't have the same tolerance and good-will as this Bishop.

Jews, Christians, and Muslims all worship the one true God of Abraham.

Allah is God in Arabic.

The language does not matter:
+ God in English
+ Allah in Arabic
+ Dios in Spanish
+ Dieu in French

Remember God is the title or role and not God's name which is an entirely different discussion.

With love in Christ.

Its stupid because people seem to think Allah is a name when in fact all that it means is God. It would be like saying we should call Cats Die Katze to ease relations with the Germans.

Well, I don't think they HAVE to -- but if it happened to be the language of the people, why NOT?

Also, maybe he doesn't expect anybody to really do it but he wants to put this out their to foster conversation and for people to realize that ALLAH is the Arabic word for God and to stop being stupid and think it is anything else.

I think it's a good thing. Are you going to give me a thumbs down too because I am Muslim? ..and in your book not allowed to have an opinion?

That makes sense if your parish is largely Arabic-speaking . . . .
