My best friend has been dating this girl for awhile now and all of us (all of his friends) think she is great. He really likes her too, but says it's not the right time for what he wants to give her and for what she deserves. He still wants to stay with her, but she told me she was ready to leave because he's been so aloof lately. I know he really likes her and has been looking for a good gorl for a long time. I told him to try to work with her o n this, because I know she loves him and wants to work with him, but he refuses to discuss it with her ... but I think he's making a mistake. He says "If she loves me - she'll wait this out"... He's mad because I told him he was being selfish. He said he's not being selfish - he's "distant" because he is just looking out for her. Thoughts? She's a smart girl & a good catch - he admits it. But at that, I don't think it's fair to expect someone to wait for you if you can't talk to them about it. (he's not so good with expressing himself.

It all depends on some things you didn't specify: place in life (age, etc), their respective goals, etc. However, that said, she needs to dump him. No one in a relationship gets a pass on intimacy, friendship, and communication. When he grows up he'll realize his mistake and hopefully not make it again. If they're in high school, maybe they'll reconcile after he grows up.

These two need to talk to each other before it is to late. I do not know if you can make this happen or not. It sure is hard being in the middle and trying to help and not lose a friend is it not? Good luck!

If it was me, I would wait. When I love someone, like i do now, I would wait. Sometimes, its a sacrifice to do what you think is best for you and the person you want to be with.
Sometimes, it takes time to realize where your going in life, what your searching for, and who can give it to you. If i really want them, and love them, then I'll be patient.
If it really is love, it won't go away, so then waiting is just another battle to overcome. But in the end, if it really is love, its completely worth it.
