Well lets think about the reason Kashmir wants to separate from India in the first place. India places no value for the people of Kashmir or their culture. They have been treated with such cruelty and have high rates of poverty. If India wanted to keep Kashmir,then they need to want to keep the people of Kashmir happy as well, because the Kashmiris are "unoffically" the true owners of that land, so when people tell Kashmiri's to leave Kashmir and go to Pakistan just because they are majority Muslims, why should they leave what is theirs? Muslims are also a part of India and when the partition happened not all muslims chose to leave India cuz they were happy in India (a very good example of this is Hyderabad) I prefer Kashmir to stay with India because I think they are a rich a beautiful culture and I would hate for India to lose that, but if India continues to treat them with such cruelty then I would want them to become independent or have a fair vote as to where they would like go.

Why does Pak want Kashmir???Just because of the simple face that Kashmir is a Muslim Majority state,it is because of this reason that Pak wants.I t is the most ridiculous idea I have ever heard of.India was partiitioned into two,because Jinnah wanted a separate homeland for Indian Muslims.Even after Partition,more number of Muslims live in India than in Pakistan.

Firs resettle all the persecuted kashmiri pundits back in Kashmir. Then ask the Punjabi Paki army to move out of Kashmir and then call elections.
According to paki Muslim thinking parts of Britain and other western countries where Pakis have settled in large #s should belong to Pakiland.
BTW Britain has become the whipping boy for much of the chaos everywhere. While they were no saints they were or are not as evil as some like to see them. They have a humane side too. They certainly did not convert people by force or destroy our temples with the glee the Muslims did.

As for trying to blame it on the British, they granted the Indian Nation its Independence in 1947, the poor Indians (Pakistanis & Kashmiris) started agitation for control almost immediately, so its an internal problem.

Your question has wrong one sided statistics , can you provide statistics for the following :
How many original residents were killed when Muslims invaded India (Afghanistan and Pakistan)were parts of the olden Indian empires ?
How many people werem killed when Pakistan attacked Kashmir in 1947 when the king of Kashmir decided to merge with India ?
India is the only country divided on basis of religion , and this inspite of giving the best treatment to Muslims who were historically aggressors and killed , looted,converted a lot of Hindus.
Most of Muslims in Indian subcontinent are Hindus whose ancestors were forcibly converted to Islam by torture,threat.

Lots of people living in Kashmir today are not original Kashmirirs but people from Pakistan illegally staying in India, it suits them to claim Kashmiri origin and opt for siding with Pakistan. They also commit terrorist acts and when they get killed, blame Indian army for human rights violation,torture etc.

India was supposed to hold free elections to determine the future of Kashmir in 1955. Since that time they have illegaly occupied Kashmir and have been trying to resettle enough Indians into the area to win any election that might be forced on them.
