If this is a homework question, then:

Q = mc(DeltaT)

Q = 9,000kg (1000g/1kg) (4.184J/g-C) (6C)

note: I hope you're talking temperature in C.

Q = 225,936,000 Joules

A joule is a watt-second.

2.8kw = 2,800 watts

225,936,000joules (1watt-second/1joules) / 2,800 watts

= 80,691.4 seconds

= 1,344 minutes

= 22.4 hours

(excluding losses or gains from ambient)

If you're talking about degrees F, then it's 12.45 hours.

The 2.5 kW heater on my hot-tub takes about 1 hour to raise the temperature 5 degF when the ambient temperature is around 70 degF. The tub holds approximately 1000 liters.

Given your pool with 9 times the volume, which translates to over 4.3 times the surface area, it will take a very long time to raise the temperature by 6 degrees (F), and depending on the ambient temperature it may never happen.

This sounds like one of those crazy homework questions that teachers give you to shut you up for an hour or two!

Depends on the depth of the pool; the shape of the pool (long, narrow pools take less time to heat than perfectly square or round pools); what the pool is made of (rubber, plastic, wood surround, cement surround etc.); whether it is an 'above ground' pool or cement and tiled 'in ground pool'); the temperature outside (or inside if you're posh and have an indoor pool); what the pool is filled with (milk, water, alcohol?); the colour of the liquid (reflected light reacts differently); and whether the sides and floor are coated in algae or not (helps conserve heat).

Hmmmmm.

i hope you are pumping the water through the heater, i would probably say the heater isnt big enough. some spa pools have 8kw heaters in them and they are well less than 9000 litres
