For instance, I have heard some British people pronounce the word aluminum "al-u-min-e-um" that doesn't make any sense at all. And don't get me started with the word schedule.

Apparently the British decided to change the word because they wanted to say it differently---http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aluminium#Spelling

They speak "Olde English" and we speak and write in American English. Neither is "wrong". But yeah I agree with you about "schedule"..."shed yool"! Gotta love 'em. :)

British people do not say words wrong, actually if you think about it, American's are the ones who say words "wrong" The English or British spoke English before America was even discovered. American's are just so used to speaking a different way, with the "accent" that we sometimes think that the British talk funny, when in reality, WE are the ones who talk funny.

If you are an American, the way they speak sounds wrong to you, but if you're an Englishman/woman, exactly the opposite is true.
Now, who invented the language, The British or the American?
In practical terms, the wrong ones are the British people, because the commercial and informal English most used worldwide, by far, is American English.
But in terms of grammatical and speech correctness, the right ones are the British, because they set the rules and uses when they invented the language, pure and simple.
That's why British people "say it all wrong", when they are actually "saying all right" if you know what I mean.

Actually, the word 'aluminum' is incorrect; the proper spelling is 'aluminium', it's just that ages ago an idiot North American forgot the extra 'i' and now everyone in NA says and spells it wrong.

What the deal with the hatred of British people? I would assume you never had a British friend. they are pretty much like us (the looks, if you are Caucasian) but they talk a little funny but not wrong.
