Just a tip for you : you can do anything you want without drugs or alcohol once you accept the fact that you are powerless and start working on recovery. Here's some things -
team sports
volunteer opportunities
family gatherings
dates with women/men
working at a productive job
going to AA meetings/functions
going to the library and looking at books
shopping
swimming
running
hiking
going out to coffee with a friend
going to a movie
taking a scenic drive
going camping
working on vehicle
.... ad infinitum. I do things in sobriety that I never did when I was getting loaded, and the next day I remember what I did, and I know I didn't break any laws or hurt anybody. And that feels really good. One day at a time, it is possible to live a life of serenity and happiness. Good luck to you : )

iMAGINE U ARE on a mountain walking a narrow treachorous path with steep valleys on eother side.the valley is deep, very deep, very very very...........deep and u cannot seee the bottom.
Now toss a coin in the air and wait for it to fall down the valley and hit the bottom till u hear the clang of the coin hitting the bottom.
but the coin keeps falling and fallling and falling and does not reach the bottom as it is very deep.
u keep on waiting to hear and wait and wait and wait..............
while resting on your pillow.............

There are sports, hiking, reading, pencil puzzles, going for walks, but most of all, don't hang with people who still do drugs and alcohol. Get into playing an instrument. Take college courses online. Better your education.

damn dude. I feel your pain. I've been thinking of drying out for a while, and I'm in the same predicament.
volunteer
go to library
hang out at coffee shop
fish
go to shooting range
the many many chores that I've been meaning to do for a while
look for a better job
I'd concentrate on things that make you "look like you're improving your life".
good luck.

Get yourself out of the house. Go for a walk, ride a bike or go for a drive in the car. Go to the park or visit with friends or family. It really helps to get out of the four walls. I know it does for me, and it's cheap too! Good luck to you.

Bowling. Bingo, going out to dinner, doing laundry, cleaning the house, listening to music, driving, running, watching a movie, going to the gym, taking your little cousin, nephew neice, son daughter or whatever to the park...... Just to name a few.
