it would all depend on the source of the carbohydrates. the food pyramid is a joke, it's not based on science but on manufacturing needs. the sedentary individual simply does not need a high intake of carbohydrates. when the body is at rest, watching tv, computing, walking, light house work, desk work, etc. the primary energy source is free fatty acids not glucose.

I'm no nutritionist but foods high in cholesterol would raise your cholesterol levels and there are some carbs out there with absolutely no cholesterol in them. Also, I have heard that the old food pyramid is outdated.
