Stop comparing her to the other children! She may just enjoy being the 'baby'! Be patient with her and and be kind to her.

You may want to begin asking her if she wants to go with you every time you go potty. If she says "no" simply say, "Okay, let me know if you want to."

I have 2 daughters - one will be 2 in about three weeks and the other will be 3 in a month.

My almost 3 year old isn't potty trained either. She just doens't want to do it. She has used the potty at random times -both pee and poop. She just prefers wearing a diaper. I tried letting her run arond naked - and thats what finally got her to use the potty the first time. But She pooped on the floor and I had to shampoo it to get it out, and I don't want to do that again. I figure she just isn't ready yet. I don't push it, I don't want to turn this into a control issue for her - and then I'd have an even bigger problem on my hands.

But my almost 2 year old is pretty well potty trained. When I got the potty out for her big sister when she was about 14 months old she could hardly wait to sit on it - and she peed the first time. Now when we're home she goes in it all the time and doesn't even like wearing diapers.

That just goes to say that every kids is different!

What I am about to start doing (I've talked to other people who say this worked) is tell her that she is all done with diapers. Don't tell her she has to use the potty - just that she is done with diapers. Get a whole bunch of underwear and tell her big girls wear underwear and she is a big girl. If you don't want a big mess (which is what I plan on doing at first) get the thick training underwear with the vinyl covers until she at least stops pooping in her underwear. It may only take a couple days, or it might take months - but at least underwear are washable and you won't be buying diapers anymore.

I potty trained two children one at two and one at three. I used a training potty and sat it in the bathroom and told them what it was for. The girl well she played with it with her dolls she also took the potty apart several times I wasn't sure if I should let her treat it like a toy, but I guess it was ok because like a month later she came out of the bathroom and said i did it. I said what she said i peed in that potty and she surely did i made a big deal clapping for her. My boy the same way only later he was 3 when he seemed ready so i did the same thing and it worked after four months of it being in the bathroom one day he just walked in there and used it. So give her the potty tell her what it is for tell her you would love for her to use it as soon as she is ready and once the potty pressure is gone she will do it when she is ready. Potty training for me was totally non stressful by letting them choose when they were ready.

I have children in my class that go through this all the time. My advice to you is to just drop the issue altogether. She may be reacting to the pressure by refusing to go. When she feels like the choice is her own, she will go on her own. I have seen kiddos make a turn around in the potty training department after only a day or two of parents not talking about it at all! Crazy, huh? I don't know if this is good advice for you or your family, but I wish you the best of luck!

Honestly, I don't think you should try to force it. Most of the time, until a child is willing to potty train, you won't be that successful at getting it done anyway. You can fight about it and potty train over the course of six months, or you could probably have the kid potty trained over the same amount of time without fighting for it.

I agree with the "wait" approach, but if you need to enter her into a preschool with a potty training requirement then here's my advise. I know in all the baby books its a big "No-No", but Bribery, Bribery Bribery!!!!
Our son was just the same way, and he was going to be in preschool in 2 months so I put a "Potty chart" up in the bathroom. I bought gold star stickers & his favorite toy of the moment. I hung the toy where he couldn't reach it, and everytime he pooped he got 3 stars (he put on the chart himself) and when he peed he got 1. If he pooped or peed his pants, he'd get a star taken off. When he got to 10 stars he got the toy. It worked like a charm!!!!! It taught him to count too!!!!!! He had one accident after that & we haven't looked back since!!!!! He got two toys from the chart & then it was in the garbage & forgotten.

If you try to force her, she will end up being a bed-wetter. Wait until she's ready. Take her to the bathroom with you, or if your little girl will let her, let her go with her. So she can see what a big girl thing it is to do. If she goes, give her praise. If she goes in her pants, DO NOT scold her. She'll want to go back to diapers if she thinks she gets scolded in pants but not diapers. Does she have a favorite blanket, or cup, or toy? Let her take it with her to the bathroom. My son used to sit on the potty, covered up in his "blanky", looking at a favorite book of his.

She may just be resisting because she's the baby and she wants to stay that way. Be patient. It'll come on its own.

You could also try putting her in panties, and NOT putting the diaper back on at all. Everytime she messes herself, (again, don't get on to her), simply have her clean her own mess up. Change her own panties. This worked for my sister.

Good luck.

BTW: do not use pull-ups. It's just another form of diaper for her and she'll think of them as such too.

When she is ready she will do it, I put my little girl in big girl undies one day and said no more diapers we are a big girl now okay! just for the heck of it to see what would happen and to my surprise she was going potty in the pottty all day she was just ready! she's had a few accidents from not getting to the potty fast enough lol but they will just do it when they are ready! you might want to try just putting her in undies for a day when she's in a good mood and take a portable potty with you every room you go to or wherever you go and ask her to sit on it every 15-30 minutes you might be surprised just keep trying and when she's ready she will just do it! good luck!

Try to hide the potty with a small blanket with a hole in it, take a toy that you know she likes it and talk to your daughter before you are trying to put her on the potty. Also try changing the place of the potty - even on a chair, hidden with the blanket. Invent a story about a princess - maybe show her a movie where the princess is troned and play "princess" with her and the new trone. Hope it will work!

My daughter was scared to death to poop in the toilet. Peeing was OK, but it took her 4 months of trying before she actually pooped. I bought a box of sprinkle cupcakes and every morning I told her that if she pooped in the potty today, we could make these cupcakes. And I left the box of cupcakes on the counter. I'd say, "I'd sure like to make these today! These look yummy!" Took us a while, but eventually we were able to make the cupcakes. Once she got over the fear of the toilet, she hasn't had any problem. Don't rush her. Maybe she's just not ready.

My son is 2 1/2 and I tried and tried to do the potty training thing until someone told me that they will do it in their own time... and BAM! he started! So just wait til she is ready. But just ask her occasionally.
