Oh yeah, the polar bears are swimming in circles around the last remaining ice burgs and the forests are in flames.

Well, the earth has been warming for about 25,000 years. However, it is now clear that somewhere between 10% and 20% of that warming is natural. It would continue whether or not we were here.
What this means is that 80% to 90% of the present global warming is caused by humans releasing greenhouse gasses (gasses which trap heat) or engaging in other potentially deleterious practices.
Nice to see the hyperbole from Larry below, who in other posts on this issue has cited known ExxonMobile propaganda mills (such as Craig Idso's "co2science.com" site).
No one expects these things will be immediate. We notice glaciers around the world continuing to shrink. We notice declines in polar bear populations attributed to drowning, starvation and exhaustion. We notice increased acres of land burning up due to climate change effects. Are these things natural, or man caused? That is an interesting question scientists have been studying carefully for more than 50 years. By the late 1980s the answer began to become quite clear, and in the ensuing decades the evidence collected and analyzed has only further strengthened and confirmed that already solid conclusion.
A portion of earth's present global warming is natural. Most of it, however, is anthropogenic. 80% to 90%. That is significant, and the consequences, although not immediate, well be profound.
The romans used to drink wine from lead goblets. No one ever explained to them that the acids in the wine dissolved the lead, causing them brain damage. A lot of wealthy romans went insane. Today, a lot of wealthy americans are about equally insane, denying there are any consequences to their activities.
I'm not antibusiness. I enjoy hunting, woodworking, and building solid state electronics. To get into the woods I have to drive or fly. To build circuits I use materials recovered from the earth through mining. Woodworking requires lumber. All of these activities, at present, consume fossil fuel. All I'm saying is that some national policies are well advised, such as fuel economy standards for new cars, and reducing our dependence on foreign oil. These should be national priorities. Instead, our president continues to insist "we need an energy policy the encourages consumption."
It's obscene, the way this administration has refused to acknowledge reality.

It is still being questioned, as it should. Not one scientist has proved or disproved "man-made" global warming. But with the media and other communication ports being persuaded to preach about global warming, it looks like the alarmists will beat the skeptics. But be careful alarmists, our government is forming a tax plan to tax each "family of 4" $4,500 a year and working some tax for smaller families and single persons. This tax will go to the development of alternative fuels, which seems like a good idea. But shouldn't the energy companies take the financial responsibility for the research and development of alternative fuels, and not the tax payers? All of these stupid politicians are invested in some kind of energy source, and they will scare and tax you into using their product so they can get richer! Don't buy into either side, until one of them officially wins with a 100% proven theory. Just a reminder, not one scientist has proven either side yet.

there are two ways to look at that.
there was a point in time (the ice age)
that the world was covered in ice.
what is left...mainly being antartica, iceland, and the ice around it....
is just the ice that hasnt melted YET.
it will melt anyway.
BUT CO2 output and different "global warming factors"
are only increasing the melting speed of the ice.
so yes, the world is still melting and will continue to melt until it has nothing left to melt.

Still hot until winter gets hear . The believers of global warming are being accused of starting a religion called "Church of Global Warming " and the non believers that enjoy the smell of burning oil are starting a cult called "Satan Fart Sniffers ".

I'm at Alioto's Restaurant/Fisherman's Warf right now enjoying a plate of calamari and some crab cakes. It is quite cool and there are little puffs of fog here and there. Things could start to melt any minute now. ts
Vintery, mintery, cutery, corn,
Apple seed and apple thorn;
Wire, briar, limber lock,
Three geese in a flock.
One flew east,
And one flew west,
And one flew over the cuckoo's nest.

Welcome back.
Developments in the last few months have shown that things are somewhat worse than previously thought. It will be explained in more detail in the next installment of the IPCC's reports due to be published in November.
● Siberia has warmed more than previously thought (now up by 4°C, was 3°C)
● Global temperatures are rising slightly faster than previously thought (was 0.0156°C per year, now 0.0177°C)
● Arctic ice is melting considerably faster than previously thought (had been thought it would be 100 years before completely melted, now 40 years)
