I have an old Digital 8 camera with many tapes that I want to archive. I have a new MiniDV camera and was wondering if there is a way to transfer from Digital 8 to MiniDV.

you don't need a computer, the dv connector should be compatible with either system. thus you should be able to connect to two together directly (using 4 pin cable on both ends).

Your computer software should have a "print to tape" function which will send video out the dv connector and cause the camcorder to record. The computer doesn't care if it is Digital 8 or miniDV, the serial video data is identical.

You have to get a CAPTURE CARD or DANGLE to transfer the Digital 8 to your computer, then use the CAPTURE CARD or FIRE WIRE port to send it it to the MINI DV
