Since the Taurus is, if I remember correctly, a front wheel driven vehicle, I don't think it's possible to swap in the 302. It would reguire too much work for no appreciable gain, other than the "curiosity value"... Good luck!

Why???? Go find a Taurus SHO. The Gen 2 is a good pick. Most had Yamaha v-6's and some even came with 5 speed manual tranny's like mine which has gobbled up many 302's
You could even find a Gen 1 SHO which would be an easy swap for your slo go. The V8 SHO's were okay but lacked the dependabilty that the V6 had. Regardless if you haven't got a manual tranny your wasting money in the long run as the auto tranny could not take the power and torque of the V6 or V8 Yamahas produced for long.
Just for fun look up the HP ratings of the SHO V6 and compair it to the 302. You'll be amazed.
Beware stangers not ever Taurus you pull up to in the dark is just your grannys car!

NO The Taurus is a front wheel drive with a transverse mounted engine. The 5.0 will not fit due to transmission availability and its sheer size. How about putting a 96-99 Taurus SHO Yamaha V8 in? It is probably cheaper to get a used SHO than do the swap!!!

See if you can find an old Maverick. The job will get a lot easier. Or even better find a used miata. Go to this site and check them out. www.monstermiata.com
good luck.

No it won't work The transmission will not bolt up to it and you would waist lots of money trying to modify the trans, and motor 3.8 or another 3.0 will fit with better money, hope this helps.

Maybe, the big problem would be finding a transaxle that will bolt up to it.
