The Blessed Virgin Mary was a virgin because our God chose her to be the mother of His Son Jesus. For Jesus to be born as our Messiah and without original sin Mary did not know man before she became pregnant with Jesus. As Christians we are taught this even though I am sure that for an atheist it is hard to understand any of the Bible teachings we observe.

She was a virgin. Her mother used to be a virgin as well but no longer was.

ADD: The only person who knew for sure was Mary, and she never wrote an account (or at least not one that survives).
The mother of many heroes, gods, and demi-gods was made virginal by faith and history.

ADD: The Muslims call it symmetry. Eve was a woman made from man. Jesus was a man made from woman. Neither had the fun of sex involved.

The myth of the virgin birth of Jesus was made up after the fact to tailor his story in such a way that it complied with the prophecy of the Messiah. This gave Jesus some street cred. In that respect Mary was just a pawn. I seriously doubt if she ever made the claim that she was a virgin.

Not only does the word "virgin" mean someone who is unexperienced in sex, it also means (latin) a chaste or unmarried woman, a maiden. So, it is entirely possible that Mary was a virgin, she was chaste, and unmarried. Once upon a time, a long, long time ago, women waited until they were married to have sex. That is why Joseph was so troubled that Mary was pregnant--he knew he hadn't done the deed-so, it was entirely in his rights to refuse to marry her.

She was a virgin until she spent some wonderfull and hot moments with a youg and beautiful stud calle Gabriel. She then got pregnant. Joseph, a good guy, much older than her , decided to raise the kid as his own. The rest is just standard fairy tales....

Well, if she was Jesus' or anybody else's mother, then that pretty much excludes the possibility of virginity in the pre-artificial insemination age. When you read the story, you can just imagine her reaction! Oh SH#T! Busted!

it is possible to be pregnant and a virgin. It's called artificial insemination. A virgin could go to a sperm bank, get some sperm and be implanted with them. It is possible.

Nothing is impossible for God. If He can create life in the universe, He can certainly do the same in a virgin's womb.

She was only 13 when she was impregnated by GOD. There are many virgins at that age!! She have stayed a virgin after that because of the spiritual energy that was most likely so great that nothing could ever equal, plus it was kind of sacred after that...
