Rangefinder type cameras have an eyepiece that has some function inside it that splits the image into two different pieces. It's usually a prism, or a split screen. as you focus, the split image either gets more split, or it comes together. when it's together, you're in focus.

a real rangefinder digital camera helps the photographer to concentration via aligning 2 photographs interior the viewfinder till they meet or exchange into clearer. as quickly as I shot with my loved Leica, as nicely as my older Konica, Canon, Kodak, Voigtlander, and Minolta rangefinders, it grew to become into precise and basic. Now, there are digital camera with separate viewing living house windows that don't assist you to concentration this way. For those cameras, you will might desire to easily use the area indicator on the lens.

One of the premium rangefinder cameras was the MINOLTA HiMatic 7S II. Excellent optics, very user-friendly, shutter preferred operation. Nice bright rangefinder. Check ebay for prices. There were two versions - the silver and black and an all black one. The all black one costs more.
