Hi, I am trying to plan a nice relaxing, somewhat luxurious beach/diving vacation for my husband and I in the late Oct-Nov range and can't decide if we should go somewhere in Hawaii or Mexico? We are flying from Seattle so we don't want to spend too much time in the air or on layovers. Also, we don't want to deal with hurricanes. Any advice?

well it is hurricane season for us in hawaii from July- November so there may be a chance of alot of rain and bad weather. But you never know. It just might be the opposite. I know last year November it was really nice.. So no tell what the weather will be like, best be is to check the forcast.. I'm not so sure what the weather is going to be like in Mexico.. But I heard it's also really nice there too. Good luck finding a nice vacation spot.

As far as I know hurricane season is over by November. We usually don't see a lot of rain for the "rainy season" until Feb so you're save there. In Oct-Nov the waves are starting to get a little bigger which is more fun, but they aren't dangerous like they are in Dec-Jan.

Depending on where you've dived before, Oahu can have some pretty great/disappointing dives. For most people they love the dives because they have never seen reefs or tropical fish. However, for those that know what reefs and fish populations are supposed to be sometimes Oahu diving is a little sad. Tourism has killed everything. There is some pretty good diving on the other islands where tourism is not as dense. If you go to Kauai you can do the Ni'ihao dive which is expensive but amazing I hear.

I think Hawaii might be a little safer for diving than Mexico because shops have to abide by US government standards. They standards might not be the same in Mexico. Not sure though.

I love Hawaii... the weather and temp are almost always perfect. I went to Mexico on my honeymoon and we had a hard time with both weather and temp (in August).

Oh guy, this could properly be a hard question. There a expert's and con's to the two. I defentily felt safer whilst i grow to be in Hawaii yet Mexico grow to be far extra low-value. The sea coast's are comparable, Waikiki and the east facet of Mexico are appealing (west Mexico ie Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan etc. would not carry a candle to it). i like strolling and hiking and that's the place Hawaii relatively shines. I on occasion felt in Mexico like I had to stay the hotel; could no longer relatively walk the strip because of the fact the hotels are huge and so far aside - lot's of water activites yet no longer adequate to do inland. in case you have on no account been you may absolutly pass expierance it, there's no longer something like it interior the worldwide and it relatively is paradise!

I personally prefer Hawaii. If you stay out of Waikiki you won't have to many traffic problems and if you stay on Kauai or Maui traffic is fine. hurricanes are rare in Hawaii but do happen occaisonally but the same can be said for M and your costs are going to be similar. both can be great but its Hawaii for me
