Then the rest of the day I'm fine. Now if I sleep late(past 8:00 am)I'm fine.I have been to the doctor and had my lungs checked and they are fine, even had my throat checked out because sometimes there is blood. All checked out fine.I'm coming to think this a mental thing.

Does this occur after brushing your teeth? I have a similar situation but mine is due to being allergic to something in tooth paste. If this is the case, contact your dentist and he can order you special toothpaste.

I wonder if your coughing is due to the air quality in your home. If you seem to be really dry when you wake up, that could be a contributing factor. Try getting a humidifier to add a little moisture to the air. If you're a smoker...well, that'll definately have something to do with it. I'm thinking you should be evaluated by a gastroenterologist...especially if you're coughing up blood and/or stomach acid. You'd likely benefit from having an EGD (an upper GI scope).

Something also to consider is ulcers. Yea I know nothing to do with the lungs, but understand that the mental connection between the two systems is quite.... delicate? easily confused? cross-wirable? Weather mentally or physically. But its another direction to look into.

Well, Kevin, if the Dr checked you over and said youro.k.
don't worry. After all. It's not the cough that carries you off.
It's the coffin they carry you off in!

Are you sure it's not mucus?

If it's stomach acid, then it may burn your esophagus, which
is dangerous.
Try going to a 2nd doctor.
