Just let them know the date you'll be able to start is the week after Labor Day. Simple as that. You want to give your notice, take a few days to tie up loose ends, and then you'll be ready.
They will probably not hire you on the spot, and two weeks from Monday is Labor Day. What you really should be concerned about is how to work the time into your old job.

At the interview, let your potential employer know when you would be available to work. Since many other potential employees may need the time to provide notice at their current places of employment, etc., it shouldn't make you look bad that you need this extra week. Many times they won't even ask why you need this extra week, so unless they specifically inquire about it, then I wouldn't offer the information. Also, if you are serious about this job, your girlfriend should be understanding, and the two of you should work to make arrangements, if it is important, for you to be able to perform your first week at work and still have some time to spend with her.

This happens to people all the time. Don't sweat it! Just tell them that you have some loose ends to tie up and some appointments before you start your new job. Just let them know when you will be able to start and it shouldn't be a problem. If they pass you over for the job because of starting a week later, they aren't worth it anyway!

If your girlfriend loves you, she'll understand. Have her take a cab from the airport to your office, then spend as much time with her as possible - maybe ask for ONE day off.
Or, postpone your start date till after she leaves. AFTER the job has been offered, let them know you'd be able to start on whatever date. Or if you don't want to push it, say you need Friday the 31 off for a previous commitment.

How do you know that's when you will be starting if your barely going to the interview? They will usually ask you when you would be available to start so just tell them that you would be able to start September 4th. Just give them the starting date and nothing else, they don't need to know your life story.

people who want jobs don't ask for the first week of work off. I think that you are putting your personal desires before your job, as such I'd never hire you. I , and other employers< want someone who is there to work, not someone who is ( in the first week) making excuses to get off work so they can get laid.

The question of when you can start should come up and if it doesn't bring it up yourself. When it does come up tell them then when you can start. You don't need to reveal anymore information than you have to. Just be quick and to the point.

You have to tell the employer when you'r available to start working. I agree with one of the first people, say 'I'm available at....'

Just tell your GF that you can only see her after your work day is over, every day.
Not good to start asking for huge favors, like a week off, right off the top. I wouldn't hire you, if you asked that of me.
