Paul Newman's Family Italian is my favorite. You should also try Good Seasons packets and make it yourself and try different variations on the oil and vinegar you add to that.

I make a slow-cooker chicken dish with italian dressing but it calls for packet italian dressing mix, not bottled dressing. I use Good Seasons Italian dressing mix. It has the best flavor. I don't care for prebottled dressing. If you want the best flavor for your dish and the recipe calls for prepared dressing, make the dressing from a Good Seasons packet and then follow the recipe as usual. Trust me, Good Seasons is the best! If you want a variation, try the ranch dressing flavor. It's a little different but delicious! Good luck!

All Italian dressings are pretty much just oil, vinegar, water and seasonings, so it doesn't really make a difference which one you use. As long as you don't go for a "creamy" or "low-fat" Italian dressing your recipe should come out just fine. Just use the same type as you would on a salad, because unless your recipe calls for an entire bottle, you will have some left over and it might as well be something you already know you like.

You might want to explore some of the "new" Italian dressings if you have a large superstore market near you.....Only thing that I'd recommend that you stay away from, is an Italian dressing with Balsamic Vinegar in it......in a slow cooker, it overwhelms the dish......I'd stick with one that is one of your already favorites....Enjoy!!!
