I never meant to imply that I would tell my guests which was I preferred it. I have just noticed some guests make it, some guests strip it and some do neither. I prefer them to leave it-either made or unmade. Any other action seems kind of presumptuous of them. If they strip it, it looks bad until I get around to the laundry. So I think if they are going to do something, they should just ask the host.

I ask them to just leave the bed unmade if they ask. I don't like to ask my guests to strip the bed.

I always make the bed even when I stay at hotels because my mother used to always do that. It just looks neater and if the person can't get to the laundry right away then they are not left with a messy looking guest room. Stripping the bed makes it look funny and unwelcoming. Leaving the bed unmade looks a little sloppy but if no one is over then I suppose it doesn't matter. I just think it is the respectful thing to make the bed.

strip the bed before the leave and pile the blankets and pillows neatly on the bed and roll the sheets up and leave them in the corner of the room along with their towels and stuff like that.

I would like them to make it because if I don't get to stripping and washing right away, it doesn't look bad. I would never ask them to do that though.

However they leave it, I'll take care of it, I'm the hostess after all. I would not ask them to do either, that's just tacky.
