We just moved from a house to an apartment that didn't have a microwave and the kitchen isn't big enough for one. And I have to say I don't miss the microwave at all! I've found lots of ways to do all the things I used to do with my microwave and almost none of it is any slower than the microwave was. And you are right! Traditionally cooked anything tastes better than out of the microwave.
Maybe it's just one of those "conveniences" we all gotten used to?

I think that stove-top food actually tastes better than microwaved, anyhow. But microwave can be a step quicker with some food prep.

Not me.I prefer to cook the traditional way and I agree it tastes better that way.
I use my microwave for basically the same thing you do or to defrost something if I've forgotten to take it out of the freezer.

We don't have any patience anymore. We're all working and on the run it's not like the old days when women got to stay at home and take her time cooking.

Well, we're lazy, it's fast, it's easy, it doesn't take a genius to know how to press some numbers and the 'cook' or 'start' button.
Not that it's good for you. Oh well.
