I went to the tanning bed two days in a row for ten minutes both times, i'm really fair skin and have freckles and got sooooo burnt, its not blistering or anything, its just really red and some of it is pealing, i've been putting aloe vera gel on it everyday but it doesn't seem to work. What should i do?

I had this last year one word PAINFULL!
thankfully there is a way :)
go to your local store and pick a pot of natural yogurt..
it has to be natural yogurt no flavouring just natural
apply this to the affected area
and lye down for around 45-60minz
this will cool it down and reduce the redness and soreness
trust me it works!
good luck honey xx

I am just like you. I've learned my lesson now and don't do sun. Too much sun is poisonous to your skin as well as can scar you for life and age you too soon. However, for your present situation, do not put anything on it but cool water until the fever has left it. Sunburn has to be treated just like a regular burn and the longer the fever is in your skin, the more damage it is causing. Take very cool to cold showers or use ice pack or cold cloths until the fever is gone. Sometimes that can take several days if it is bad burn. After the burn is left, then you need to work on healing the skin. Usually a peal means that the fever has broken but if it still seems hot to very warm when touched, it hasn't fully broken yet so still needs cold treatment. Use a very good aloe with vitamin e to restore your skin. It will still peel if it was burnt because you damaged the epidermis and it died too quickly and entered into the dermis of your skin. You will have a good pink area for awhile if it was burned bad. DO NOT go back to a tanning bed or stay in the sun without a very strong sunblock over that damaged skin. You can develop skin cancer from sunburns if it isn't taken care of properly. Keep using the aloe with vitamin e until the skin is completely restored. This is the determitologist treatment that I had to do with my sunburns.

I am very fair skinned too so I hear ya! When I am sunburned I keep the aloe in the fridge and put it on with the fan on, watch tv for a while while it soaks in but then I go and take a warm bath, it makes the sunburn sting briefly but that night or next day it feels so much better. Good luck!

Boil up a pot of tea. Throw a bunch of ice in it. Soak an old towel or rag in it. Squeeze out excess tea and place towel on sunburn. Leave it there until it starts to get warm. Then dip it back into the tea and repeat the process. This is guaranteed to take the heat out of your sunburn! My sister is fair and burned like a tomato growing up. We did this all the time for her sunburns. You'll still peel, but it won't hurt so bad.

1. that was dumb, don't go twice in a row, especially if you have fair skin
2. aloe vera gel is the only way i know of to soothe sunburn, nothing is really going to make it go away faster, just try to keep your skin moisturized and don't go tanning anymore!

Apply Aloe Vera Cream or gel - it is sold at herbal shops and also at Body Shop. Take care to ensure it is unfragranced.
