I got pink eye in my left eye on Saturday, July 28th. I went to the doctor the next day and he gave me some eye drops. Then it went to my right eye. I used eyedrops on both eyes. It started to clear up. Then my eyes weren't red anymore. For a couple days, I still woke up with dried pus on the bottom of my eyelashes. Then for a few days, I didn't. Then one day I woke up and there was the gunky stuff in my right eye again, but it went away the day after. But even now I sometimes get a little discharge, and a couple days ago I woke up yet again with some watery discharge along my bottom eyelashes. I didn't get it the next day. My eyes weren't pink or anything though, so I don't think I got pink eye again... So, what's wrong? I have no idea why I keep getting watery discharge but no pink eye. I use eyedrops sometimes after I get it, but not always. Am I thinking too much? Also, is it safe to wear contacts?

It sounds to me that you still have some of the pink eye. Make sure you've used the drops as long as the doctor instructed. Sometimes if you stop before it's completely cured, even though the symptoms have gone away it can return. I'd lay off the contacts also for a bit, until your eyes seem completely normal. Good luck.

use the eye drops the doctor gave you and use all of it don't stop cause the symptoms go away....always follow your doctors recommendation...you should schedule a follow up appointment with your doctor before things get out of hand..

just b/c your eye doesn't appear pink, doesn't mean it's cleared up. if you've been using the drops this entire time, call the doc. if you discontinued them thinking it was gone, start up again.in both eyes. wash all your linens and remember to wash your hands frequently. don't touch your face at all. pink eye is very contagious.

it sounds like ure body is healing itself. lay off the contacts for a while, that just opens the door for bacteria and pink eye reinfection.
