Sparkles, you seem logical about it. I just dont get how you can put so much stock in a belief, soemthing that is uncertain. Makes no sense

As a Christian I have no book of any kind to "back" my belief up. My "stock" does not rest alone in the Bible.

My belief is simply my choice based on my experiences which have led me to have faith.

I have never and will never try to convince or prove to you that I am right. . . .I have simply made a choice for myself and you have made yours.

EDIT: Thanks for your comment to me. I don't think anyone who does not believe can understand why I do. . .I can't even explain it in words. . .it is seriously something so deep in the very core of me. . .I really do wish I had the words. . .{{{{{HUG}}}}}

Understand that the Bible is 66 different books written over the course of thousands of years, not one book. That's why some things are one way in one book, and another way in another book.

Here’s the best site you can hope to find containing just about all of the different writings associated with Christ.

http://www.earlychristianwritings.com/

There are stories about Jesus in other writings, that aren’t in the Bible. Modern Biblical scholars agree that some of these stories are probably true, accurate events from the life of the Christ.

Just because something’s not in the Bible, doesn’t mean it’s not from God – Blood transfusions, for example.

Why were some books not included? People disagreed about the story of Christ WHILE it was happening – why the four Gospels tell different aspects of the same story, for example.

Paul and his followers disagreed from the middle of Acts, through the end of their lives. So disagreements over what Jesus said and didn’t say, is expected.

The Bible is 66 books. How many should people have carted around with them? 60? 77? The Book of Esther nearly didn’t make the cut, and the letter of Barnabus nearly did.

In addition to the codified Bible, there was a “recommended reading list,” of the books that weren’t included.

Also, Jews for 3,000 years have compiled a commentary of the OT books, also not in the Bible, but OF the Bible, if that makes sense.

Why weren’t other books included? Here’s what the author of the Gospel of John said.

John 24: This is the disciple who is testifying to these things and has written them, and we know that his testimony is true. 25But there are also many other things that Jesus did; if every one of them were written down, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.”

There are a lot of writings about Jesus, that aren't in the Bible.

But I don't worship a book, or have "religious beliefs." I follow Jesus.

Godspeed.

Fortunately, we don't need anything more than the 66 books of the Bible! Lucky us, huh?

Since the bible was inspired by God and written by so many prophets and chosen leaders, it was handed down by word that it is true and just.

At the time of these writings, there were no such inventions as cameras, videos, tape recording, computers, etc. so news was written down or passed along by word of mouth.

Anyone can surely understand that 5500 years ago was too long for sophisticated communication and documentation. So, people like Noah, Moses, Isaiah, Joshua, abraham, David, Job, Paul/Saul, and the others of the New Testament Books could only write them down on stone or finally on papyrus.

Because it was handed down from one generation to another by word, it was respected and handed down again from there. It went on for generations until written down just as we share family information about our parents and grandparents and others with our children. Sometimes we journal and that gives a lasting documentation to the family, just like the Bible.

The final book for true disciples of Jesus Christ are their experiences/testimonies. In Revelation 12:11, the Scripture confirms that the faithful overcome by the Blood of the Lamb (Jesus Christ) and the power of their TESTIMONY. Experience is the best proof that God exists. The underlying question is... Will you ACCEPT the evidence? I personally know that there is only one true God... The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The God of the Jews. All other gods are false manifestations, originating from the Devil. Now, the Devil has even more compelling evidence of his existence. Yet, many people, including some Christians, don't believe or know that he exist. God is only GOOD, and the Devil is only BAD. Almighty God and the Devil have nothing in common. So, the evidence you believe and experience to be "true" will determine who you will worship as "God" or "god". Remember: Almighty God = GOOD and... the Devil = BAD. Consider God's evidence at [www.CreationEvidence.org], [www.WayOfTheMaster.com], and [www.NeedGod.com]. Enjoy! [(\o/)(XP)]

Probably not, in terms of a book. Even the Bible itself isn't completely enough to get you "over the hump" when it comes to believing in Christ. It's a personal, internal decision made between you and God.

Many people reject it too. It's cool. I think they're wrong, but...

Don't need back-up when you have faith. Maybe you could explain the point in coming here just to bash others beliefs? Something has to be missing somewhere or you'd have a real life and wouldn't spend your time with this nonsense.

Common sense. The Bible has an effect on a believer that changes them, if they really want to change.
