Good buy or bad only 1200 dollars!!!!!!!?
well lets see i recently payed a dwn payment on a 1996 dodge neon and the only thing wrong with it as i know it is that the windshield is cracked, and the front end associated with the tires is messed up.we think its either a wheel bearing or a tie rod that needs replacing. this car only has 76000 miles on it but ive now heard numerous complaints about the early dodge neon cars. like head gaskets and etc. idk what else could be wrong with the car bc i couldnt take it to a mechanic before i bought it bc these people lived to far away from my mehanic. i need a car to get back and forth from school and im running out of time. do you recommend go ahead and get this car or not and lose the 200 i payed down on? what else could be wrong with it?

With a cracked screen and front steering gear faulty it would appear that the car has not been maintained very well, but saying that it is very difficult to give a long distance diagnosis. If I was you I would get the opinion of a local mechanic who would be able to check the car over for you,and give you a price guide as to the repairs needed. Only then can you make an informed opinion.

I would be worried if the owners would not allow me to have a mechanic look at the car. Other than the distance, are they hiding something, and trying to take advasntage of you?

I would not buy this car, to begin with, but that is me. Take a look at kelly blue book. ( www.kbb.com ) and see what a 96 neon is worth. Now start deducting the price of a windshield, which you can find out with a call to an auto glass repair shop.
And we haven't even gotten to the suspension problems, so call a dealer and find out what the estimate is for a wheel bearing and tie rods ends.

You are going to be way over what it is worth. I know you are about out of time. The only thing I can think of is to tell you to ask the seller if he will stand behind the car. Get it in writing that he will cover any defects that you mechanic finds, that he/she did not list when you bought it. I'm sure that they will refuse to do this. If this is the case, then just say thank you, and may I have my deposit back? If they say no, then go talk to a lawyer, and have the lawyer get on them, and file a claim in small claims court. That 200 deposit will cost them more than they think.

good luck.
