I have a simple formula in my Excel spreadsheet '=B-5'. Looks fine but when I print it off a hard copy on my printer, the cell shows '######'. This is happening w/ all my formulas. Any ideas?

make the column wider

It could be that you don't have the cell wide enough. Normally Excell will give you a ###### when it can't fit the contents in the cell. However, your formula doesn't look right either.

You have "=B-5"

If you are referring to the cell B5, that should be:

=B5

There shouldn't be a hyphen between the column letter and the row number. If you have that hyphen there, Excel will think you are referring to a named cell range called B. So according to your formula, Excel is trying to subtract 5 from a cell range called B and it can't do that if there isn't a range named B.

If you are typing the formula in, you can avoid this happening by selecting the cells you want to refer to in your formula instead of trying to type them out. If you want to use different absolute references for the cell. Just hit F4 to select through the different types of references.

The cell is not wide enough. Format/ Column Width and make it 12. It should print fine then.

File -> Page Set up. Select the sheet tab. There should be an option about half way down that says "gridlines" check that checkbox. Excel will only print gridlines around the information you have in the cells, no more.

The value is to big to display in the cell. Double click the column to auto fit the contents. Use Print Preview to see how it will look before you print it.

you need to make the cell a bit wider
whilst it may fit into the cell on screen, it may not when trying to fit it onto a bit of paper.
