Yes. I know this all too well when i was in ranger school. Possibly the toughest day of my life, it felt like i never slept anyway. Completely worth it though.

I've known 3 SEALS. One(retired) I worked with and only after 3 months did it come out one day at lunch that he was a retired SEAL Commander. We had been at the same duty station once in Viet Nam, but not at the same time and I asked if he knew a certain SEAL Commander, just out of curiosity. He did. That's what broke the ice.
One I knew for several months (through church) and only knew his rating. One day his daughter was with me as I opened the church and turned on lights. I asked her where her dad was because I hadn't seen him in a couple of weeks. She replied something like this...'He's off on assignment with his SEAL unit but we can't know where he is. We seldom do and mom and I really miss him and are scared for him.' I put my arms around Ashley and held her as she cried into my shoulder for a few minutes.
The last SEAL I knew, I had only known a few weeks, although I taught his son and daughter in Sunday school. Again, I never knew he was a SEAL until the church had a dinner and people/families were assigned seating with folks they normally wouldn't sit with (no Sunday school classes were allowed to sit together...I bet that was a logistical nightmare!). His wife is the one who made a comment that I caught and THEN knew he was a SEAL.
Anyone who BRAGS he is/was a SEAL, I would seriously have my doubts about.

I know several people who claim to have been, but being ex-military myself, I can usually tell if they're lying or not.

Are you just bragging about other peoples accomplishments or is there a reason you are asking?
