The boyfriend got me a 2 month old chihuahua for my upcoming birthday. He surprised me early, gave her to me last thursday. Ever since then she's been good and she adjusted quite well to the house. She stays in my room with me.

So... instead of using a crate, I improvised and I bulit like a little space, where she has her bed, her puppy pad, food and some toys.

She HATES being in there. I put her in after tiring her out before I go to bed. An hour later she's whining and crying and wants to come out and sleep with me. So normally I take her out, even though i know i shouldn't, with the bed and place her next to me and she sleeps.

i'm going to buy her a crate today because honestly she can't be dependent on me all the time to be with her. i'm going to be very busy with schoool soon.

But anyway just wondering what should I put in the crate.. Do I put everything in there?

i'm a first time puppy owner!

HELP!

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://bitly.im/aMUAT

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

If you just put her in there at night, just a soft blanket will do. We don't eat or anything when we sleep do we? So toys and food will not be necessary at night.

If you put toys in there at night, she will play all night and keep you awake.

But, if you put her in the crate any other time than at night, she will need food, water, toys and her blankie.

What's wrong with her sleeping with you anyway? Both of our dogs sleep with us.

crates are wonderful, unless you have 2 mastiffs! lol (thats a room) make it a good place, they say not to put and collars on them in there. rewards work well. giving in and letting her out will hurt your progress. she is still yound though. work up to it if you have to.

Anything from your bed so that she can identify with your smell. Of course it should be soft and comfortable.
