For tackling one of the greatest threats to our society 'freedom of thought'. I mean where do these jerks get of thinking they can just go around believing whatever they want.

Where do you get the idea that freedom to believe as you wish is the same thing as freedom from criticism? I respect freedom of speech as well, and that implies freedom to criticize the beliefs of others.

I thank Richard Dawkins by posting links to his books wherever appropriate.

Primoa - Yes, we know that religion often inspires violence and murder in its followers, but thank you for another example.

I can't say much since I've only recently heard of Richard Dawkins but I think I'm gonna have to get acquainted with his writings. He sounds like an amazing guy!

Just because Dawkins believes there is no God, does not make it so.
However that said, freedom means freedom, to believe what you chose to believe. I have every right to believe that God exists, and I have been set free by the blood of Christ. Even though I disagree with Dawkins and those who chose to not believe, when have I ever called him a jerk? I think you need to learn the definition of what freedom is.

Freedom of thought? Is that like not indoctrinating children at an early age then giving them ALL the religious books at a less gullible age to decide for themselves?

"Freedom of thought" includes the right to author a book of opinion disagreeing with the opinions of others.
I certainly hope you aren't a Christian complaining about what you perceive to be someone trying to control the beliefs of others. That would be the height of hypocrisy.

We can thank him by fighting for intellectual honesty in science and public policy, and for good science education in our schools. And for making the difficult concepts of evolution comprehensible to the general public.

Cheers Dr. Dawkins!

I don't think he deserves any special credit, his book isn't paradigm breaking nor anything special. Therefore i don't see how he is worthy of praise. Btw the greatest treat to freedom of thought is religion[or should i say dogma and faith].

You must be joking.

Religion has obviously been the greatest threat to freedom of thought.

So "freedom of thought" excludes freedom to choose your own beliefs or lackof....

Christians lack freedom of though b/c they have "freely" chosen a different path than atheism...???

I love how primoa wants to murder him! Or, I don't know, when you push somebody off a cliff, is that murder, or do you consider it an "Act of God" when his body hits the ground?
