Here's what I found:
Mario Larrinaga (1895 - 1979) Illustrator, painter, designer. Born in Las Flores, Baja California on Jan. 19, 1895. In 1909 Mario and his brother Juan moved Los Angeles. Although lacking formal art training, Mario became an employee of Universal Studios. He learned his craft there as a designer, art director, and painter of both miniature scenes and huge cycloramas including backgrounds and special effects for "King Kong" (1933). He studied at Chouinard School of Art during 1934-35 and did illustrations for magazines..... (you need to regiister to read the rest of his bio). I found no reference to the work that you mention (painting, illustration, photo? He owned a gallery in New Mexico.) but perhaps by following the information in these links you can connect with someone who can. I hope this helps!

If you have a Larrinaga painting (original), you're probably looking at a substantial value. You should get it appraised, and at the very least, for the purposes of insuring it.

Butterfield's conducted an auction of his artwork most recently I believe. This makes sense as they are considered one of, if not The, premier auction house for the West Coast and Larrinaga's work will have been done in New Mexico or California. In any case, they will be a perfect source for appraising your piece.

Here's a link to their appraisal calendar:

If you have a simple giclee print, it is likely valued around $300-$400 at this time. But if it's an original, it would be worth substantially more.

Best of luck, and remember to insure it soon!
