Good point......it truly is a useless thing to argue over.

I have pluto in the "first house' conjunct my ascendant in my chart, and i feel it's strength very strongly in my personality, because i am the type who can be obsessive about things, and i have a hard time letting things or people go,and when i want something i go after it with full force, and put like everything into what i want, and sometimes that scares me a little because i can go to extremes so much that i make myself almost sick which isn't good at all,but i do it.I have a tendency to push myself really hard with anything that i do,and i won't stop until i get what i want all done or the way i want it done. It's almost like an all or nothing attitude with me even though i have libra as my rising sign.

I don't myself but it's hard to get it out of my head not being a planet b/c thats what I've been told since 1st grade programed into my head.
Sadly the media is also trying to distract use other matters besides pluto u know Anna Nicoles death, the custity battle, Lindsey Lohan stuff. It's almost as if they no longer cared that human being were being killed b/c every single day I hear news of someone dying. I guess there trying to make the news less depressing. Good thing I've been watching local news since before kindergarden other wise I may not know anything about the world.

"you have soldiers dieing in Iraq, children being molested by pedofiles, people throwing their lifes away to drugs, alcohol, and prostitution, homeless, jobless, crime, orphan homes full of kids that need parents, people dieing with aids, children dieing with cancer, and so on"
and you sitting on your *** watching TV is so eminently noble?
Some people care about strange things. You seem to care more about demeaning others than you do about spelling that's for sure.

In my opinion, finding that a heavenly body, we once thought was a planet, is not a planet shows how everything in life can be questioned. It's part of our society's evolution. The same thing has happened for years. It was once believed the Earth was flat, the sun revolved around us and we were the only life in the universe. Science, because it never stopped questioning have seen the round Earth from space, have found that we, along with many other planets, revolve around the sun and we even found bacteria from space.
If we stop questioning science and what we know, we will become stagnant and cease to evolve mentally. There are millions of people in the world and 10 fold that many problems in our own world, I agree, but we need people to question science. We need people who will always seek out the whole truth, the big picture.

The problem with everything else you mentioned, is that it's beyond our ability to control.
Deciding whether Pluto is a planet, on the other hand, is something we CAN do something about.
Maybe it's not the most important problem mankind has ever faced. But I don't think things have to be life or death for us to be allowed to care about them.
There's also a big difference between a peaceful protest and a fight. I say, if they want to give up their free time to walk around with a few cardboard signs, let 'em. They're not hurting anyone.
As a bonus, it's kind of nice to see something on TV that isn't about war, pedophilia, junkies...

Well, according to some people it is very important because it changes how astrology works, which has huge effects on us here on Earth. Astrology is a load of BS, of course, but there are still lots of people who believe it works. I guess for the most part people simply don't like the idea of Pluto being demoted after, what, 76 years or whatever it was of planet status. I agree that there are lots of more important things people could be protesting about. Of course, maybe that's partly it...maybe the government is deliberately getting people worked up over Pluto so that they get less opposition to their various corrupt activities due to people not worrying about that.

It's just sillyness--like asking whether a tomato is a fruit or a vegetable. Nomenclature is always a matter of opinion. A bunch of scientists got together to decide what term is appropriate, and there was a lot of partisan bickering over it (a lot of non-Americans wanted Pluto demoted).
No, it really doesn't matter at all, it's just trivia.

We care because they dare change a definition. Definitions are limits and words and their meaning define our reality. God seemed very reluctant to give Moses his name because God knew that in time the “Name of God” would become as important as God himself. Just like the scattered testimonials that became collectively known as the Bible became more important than the message of Christ himself.
Try meditating on reality and disconnect with language. The entire point of speaking in tongues was to transcend language to experience reality.
Pluto is a fact, planet, mini-planet, or ort object; it’s still there.
Just like you are a fact no matter what your title or religion.
As for myself;
I am.

I thought Pluto was the dog from Mickey Mouse!
You are right...let's move on to the real issues. When want to visit Pluto, I will consider the argument! Until then, lets work on peace.

It is a stupid thing to protest isn't it? If people really don't want to accept that Pluto is a dwarf planet (the new term for it) then don't accept it. Why waste energy trying to get scientists to rename it a planet? What someone else calls it doesn't matter if you still want to call it a planet. Honestly, I think they just want to protest something.
