I bought a jam jar for my old trouble and she's gorn and lent it to one of our dustbin lids. He has just bin on the blower telling me that he's done the clutch in. Strewf, He's only had it for abaut five minutes. Should I give him a right hander when he gets in or shall I make 'im cough up for a new one? Bloody kids, yew try to do a favour and this is what yew get.

Either make him cough up the money or make him work it off.

your fault for lending them the car in the first place. p.s everyone out there who doesn't understand...... This guy is trying to give you an education of rhyming slang but should really do you all the courtesy of bracketing the meanings.... I presume he's English??????
Old Trouble = Wife
Jam Jar = Car
Dustbin lids = kids
Blower = phone
Right hander is self explanatory
cough up = pay

Damn right, get him to pay to fix it himself. (assuming that the clutch was in good condition when he first had the car). If it was dodgy beforehand, complain to the seller.

For our US cousins:

Jam Jar = car
Trouble (and strife) = wife
Dustbin lids = kids
Blower = telephone
