the downfall of humanity. If the whole belief systems is based on blame and scapegoating, how does that help any of us to move towards God?

Religion blames women for the downfall of humanity because the men who made it up were sexists. They made up a story about a woman and a chatterbox snake. People in the 21st century still resort to this ridiculous myth to justify discrimination against women.

The Bible is the most gender-bias and sexist book in print. It is a glorification of violence against women, rape, incest between father/daughter, discrimination against women, denial of women's intellect, abilities and rights.

I have no part of a system based on the hatred of women.

There are so many changes made by the people in Bible for certain purposes that we can't say what was the original teachings of Bible
but
being a Muslim I believe that it had never been mentioned in original Bible
because
original Bible carried the same message as it carries Qur'aan and it is no where mentioned in Qur'aan that Eve was a sinner or women are responsible for the sin of Eve or anything like that.
These are the alterations and interpretations made by people for their own agenda.

The Bible is full of respect toward women. Let's start with Mary. She was blessed to carry our Savior. Joseph believed what she told him to be true and never scorned her. Let's look at Elizabeth. She was beyond child bearing years and was never able to have children during her younger years. She was chosen to carry and bear John the Baptist, Christ's cousin. A woman, Pharaoh's daughter, took in Moses so that he could not be harmed. Mary and Martha were among Christ's best friends while He was here on earth. He allowed them to sit with Him while He taught - kind of creating one of the first Bible Studies. Christ spoke to the woman at the well - something no male (much less Jew) would ever do, yet He testified to her, told her of her short comings, and He loved her anyway, offering her the Living Water. It was a woman, Esther, whom was instrumental in saving thousands of Jews from slaughter.

I think you need to read the Bible and understand the stories in whole, not in part, before you make statements such as the one you've made regarding women. If that were truly the case, if women were scorned biblically throughout the ages, why then would women now flock to His robes?

You have to see that humanity is fallen, far removed from what it should be, and the reason and story behind it. Then you can seek the solution and salvation and progress toward God. It's a matter of seeing and coming to a greater and greater reality, but the first real thing you must see is that you are not what you appear to be in your mind, or what the world would have you believe. True religion pulls you out of the quicksand if you can see the truth of life and the truth about yourself.

it doesn't. Why so many women follow the bible as closely as they do, and never question how there are but a few examples in the bible of righteous woman, but most women mentioned are whores, she demons, defilers of nations. Why would any self respecting woman believe in a religion like that? In ancient Egypt, there were Powerful Queens, we've seen the mummys, in Greece, they worshiped Goddesses, in Druidry, you had the Goddess and the God, etc. So we will blindly fallow a middle eastern religion that gained in popularity and spread? I'm done now, sorry.

Well, it wouldn't. What religion or religions do you think are doing this? A lot of people say that Chrisitanity is degrading to women to a certain degree. But, I think that is a misperception perpetuated by *religious* people who don't have a rational, well-grounded knowledge of the true message of Jesus Christ.

I've heard many Christian men say that women are supposed to submit to their husbands. And, the Bible does say that. But it's so common for some (especially men) to take that statement out of context and turn it into some kind of power trip.

Christian men are instructed to serve their wives as Christ served His Church. Christ wasn't demanding and overbearing. He was gentle, understanding, ready to do anything to help His people.

If Jesus was walking the earth today, and happened to be married, here are some things He would not do: (my theories only, of course)

He would not:

criticize his wife for *not cleaning the house properly*
criticize his wife because she was aging or gaining weight.
ignore his wife
lie to his wife
cheat on his wife
talk badly to or about his wife
threaten his wife with divorce
mistreat his children
demand sex constantly or pout when he didn't get it.

He would:

encourage his wife
help her to acheive all of her goals in life
speak gently to her
lay down his life for her
praise her
comfort her
help her with the demands of running a household
love his children, and spend time with them
remain faithful to her
serve her
treat her just like he wanted to be treated

I could go on and on. I am blessed to have a husband who treats me as an equal: equally good and equally flawed. He tries to cover my flaws, I try to cover his. We are a team.

But, there are many Christian men who still don't get the reality that, in Christ, we are all equal and worthy of the same respect. And, as far as women submitting themselves to their husbands? It's easy to do if you have a husband who is holding up his end of the bargain. But, it simply cannot be one sided. It never works that way. When I submit to my husband's authority I don't feel like an underling in any way. I feel like I'm an acting part of a team. Plus, he's a rational man and doesn't try to *make* me do anything.

Gee, sorry to get on such a rant. Peace.

Subtly is not your strong suit I take it. Just because Eve was a woman doesn't mean it was meant to be interpreted as all women being evil or all women held responsible for the fall from grace.

It is this misguided, and inherently bigoted, type of collective grouping that is cause of a lot of our problems today.

So, because one woman did something does not mean all women have a debt to pay back to humanity. Nobody even thinks this way (Other than you it seems), stop being so meladramatic.

Since men were the causes of changing religions the world over, it seems to me when you can get all of the men in the world to agree that the original Bible that everyone raves about was based on the precepts of a woman's view and then changed to show that women were bad, then I think you could bring everything back to balance. In the early days of civilization all religions revered the Mother not the Father. As in Mother Nature and the Mother of all things. Only when men wanted to rule and increase their power and wealth did religions change to make women the scapegoats of religion in general. Check out the Wiccans and others who don't exactly worship nature, but respect it, then you will see how males of this earth changed everything to be in their favor.

That's exactly right...you see the premise is that EVE caused the downfall all humanity but it wasn't her sin that did it, or Adams for that fact...it was in fact the blame game. We all sin, any one of us would have done exactly the same being tempted...however, they began to place blame elsewhere...Even upon Satan, Adam upon Eve and even God Himself as well..."This woman YOU made me..." Ya see. So just as it was then, now so it is also...er..something like that...Jesus was with them in the garden that day and He shed the blood of what had to be a pure and innocent animal to cloth their nakedness...yet now we are reguired to confess our sins before God and turn from them...thats all...He is the lamb and it is His blood that hides our nakedness and covers our sins...so our religion not only shows us that..but also until Christianity...woman had 0 worth in the world beyond chattel. Read up on your history. Love in Christ, ~J~

There's more than just the role of Eve. Look at all the births recorded in the Bible. It is exceedingly rare to mention any women being born. Menstruation is called an unclean act and women must be separated and offer sacrifices to atone for it. Adultery is the act of a married woman having sex with another man. Who a married man has sex with is immaterial. Virgin women are sold off as brides with no choice in the matter.
And much, much more.
