do people get their heads shaved when they go to juvi?

Because my boyfriend's going and he has long beautiful hair and I'm scared their gonna shave it off. =[

omg yess ive been there 8 times they cut it off every time so none of the inmates get lice or crabs u also have to shave you pubic hair too idk whay its jus the rules u should

It could depend on the State/County as to exactly what happens at induction. I had a friend a few years back who had been sent to Juvi at 15 for taking a lot of weed into Alaska.

The desk clerk first checked his name, address and date of birth. He then had his fingerprints taken and was photographed.

In the next area he had to strip completely and they packed his regular clothes away (he got them back on leaving). He was then given a thorough and intimate search - every body cavity was checked! Next the barber shaved his head completely, followed by removing all his pubes - he was told that ws to make the doctor's job easier.

He then went to see the doctor who did a fairly thorough physical on him, including taking blood and urine samples. That was followed by a set of half a dozen or so immunisation shots. He was the told to lie on the couch and was strapped onto it. The doctor then circumcised him as, apparently, the rules required all boys to be circumcised.

He was the given 'prison' clothing consisting of bright yellow tee-shirt, shorts and sandals before being taken to a cell which he had to share with another boy.

He said life wasn't too bad from there on and there were never any attempted rapes. However there was absolutely no privacy in the showers which they were required to take every morning.

Things may, however, have changed over the years and this may not be what you would have to go through.
