Rottweilers are known to dig in warm weather. Certain breeds tend to react differently to heat than others. Rottweilers are notorious for having difficulties remaining cool in warm weather, while some dogs like to lay in the shade (German Shepherds and Pit Bulls are in this group), others like to lay cool water such as puddles or kid pools (Newfoundlands and Bernese Mountain Dogs are in this group). One book where similar behavior is mentioned is in Cesar Millan's book, "My Way." Rottweilers are known to dig a hole in cool areas (either shade or in the mud) to find a place to cool off. She may simply be trying to find a cool place. I hope this helps. Good luck!

according to research, many dogs dig, and many dig for the sheer joy of it. He may be after something in the ground, such as a rodent. Or maybe he's hot or bored and trying to escape.
Many dogs dig to create a cool spot.If the hole is in a shady area and the dog is lying in the hole, that's a clue.Dogs don't dig out of spite; it's a natural thing for them to do. If you have a dog that is just plain dedicated to digging, then its perfectly normal. My lab started digging the yard when he was almost 8 months old! hope this helps

If hot, trying to get cool in the dirt? A lot of dogs dig. Either for fun, to bury something or their bored.

Digging isnt too bad. My Rotty used to dig rocks out of streams and any place with water and kick them through the yard. Her teeth got so small she barely had any K-9 teeth. It did help though with her toe nails!

Nope. yet what is going to help the dogs no longer dig is to take him for long walks at heel each and on a daily basis. in case you preserve him at heel, he has to pay interest on you, and that workouts his innovations as properly as his physique. purchase a toddler's plastic wading pool and fill it with sparkling sand. Bury some treats in it and teach your dogs the place they're. Bury a pair of his toys. once you enable him out interior the backyard, stay with him or watch him out the window so which you will maximum suitable him if he digs interior the backyard. you'll be able to desire to educate him the place that's okay to dig and the place it is not okay to dig. once you're cleansing up his messes interior the backyard, placed the mess interior the hollow and then disguise up the hollow with dirt. He won't dig there lower back. If his stools are sufficiently huge, divide them and placed 0.5 in each and each of two holes. regardless of if, the perfect element is to stay exterior with them while they're interior the lower back backyard and to take them the two for long walks on a daily basis. they could stroll for a pair of hours and be thankfully drained while they get lower back. solid success! The dog is bored, left out alone for too long. Or it could smell moles in the yard if it is digging in random places

Could just be from boredom, dogs are people animals and like to be with people so if it kept outside this is a normal reaction to that. My dogs do this from time to time if something smells good to them in the grass.
