The cat is named Mork. His father Linus just died and was about 20, so he must've lived a healthy life. Ever since my grandma moved to an apartment, she hasn't been able to go to the vet. She won't let us take him either. The cat has lots of knots in his fur and vomits more often then a normal cat does. What should I do?

Since Grandma won't let you take Mork to the vet, buy an inexpensive under coat bush for the cat and start brushing him . (Available ar Walmart for about $4.00,Mine has a green oval back and works great)These brushes made with wire bristles will remove the knots. Purina One has a hairball remedy food for cats that I have found works well. Have you asked Grandma if both of you could take Mork for a check -up. Perhaps she is on a fixed income and does not have the money. Good luck

I know your grandma can't afford it, but with a cat vomiting like that, you're going to have to raise, borrow, or donate some of your own money to take it to the vet for the vomiting. It could be FIV or FeLV which are very serious conditions and will kill your cat. As far as the mats in the fur, cut the mats off (carefully not to cut the skin) and make sure that your grandma brushes him everyday! It doesn't have to be an expensive brush or anything, she just has to be responsible and persistant in brushing everyday and the knots won't form.

you didn't say what sort of health your grandmother is in.... her cat must have longer hair... sometimes these cats get mats.. i know, i had a long-haired cat and brushed him every 2-3 days...

i think their fur is naturally soft and tangles easier or something? hence, the mats.

your grandmother's cat might have a lot of fur in its stomach from swallowing hair and trying to get its own mats out.. perhaps you could work at it, and comb him and try to get the knots out yourslf? you might have to resort to a little cutting and pulling, but don't cut close to the skin

meanwhile, maybe you can just make a vet appointment for the cat, go over pick it up and take it to the vet anyway?

take care and all the best!!1

you need to tell you grandma that if you don't get her cat to the vet then it could die. it could have something wrong with it's food allergic. or something wrong with it's stomach. and it needs to be groomed properly. or you could also call one of those things wear they come to you! it's really pretty handy. they came over to give my cat shots and stuff. and they just did it down stairs in our house. and then they took timber my puppy to get nudered..but they came and got him
