I wear mine proudly most of the time....but there are some people who feel it is inappropriate to have exposed tattoos and piercings in a corporate environment. Because of that, I keep my ink covered at work. That doesn't mean I don't love my ink....I just know that there is a time and a place to expose them.

Depends on where I am going. If it is a semi-casual event, such as a very nice club, or semi-casual party, I don't have a problem wearing an outfit which shows my tattoos (I have one on each bicep - the one on my right arm is quite large). If I am going to a more formal event, absolutely not. Even though tattoos have gained more mainstream acceptance now, and most of their taboo is removed, when going to the dressiest of events, they should be concealed. Special makeup is sold for this (works quite well), so you can wear that strapless formal. Either that, or I opt for styles that cover my upper arms. Events that I would do this for include weddings, funerals, formal balls, political functions, networking events, etc. It goes without saying that they are covered up daily for work by my suits and long-sleeved shirts. You must look professional to be taken seriously, and face it - the acceptance of tattoo culture hasn't quite made it into the corporate workplace yet.
As far as the 'do my clothes match my ink?' question - I don't think that thought has ever entered my mind.

The only time I care about my tattoos showing, is when I am around some of my extremely stuffy old fart relatives - I just don't care to hear the remarks - otherwise, I drew the designs, carefully picked the locations and colors, paid the insane price, endured the pain - YOU BET I ain't covering up unless I have to!!
BTW - I never ever would do or not do anything based on what society or the media is or isn't doing - that's being a robot clone - - against my "religion".

I have four tats, and only two are really visible, the strawberry and pair of cherries on my left ankle. I've never really had a problem with them showing, as they are fairly innocuous, I think.
But I don't go by what the stars do, as they live in a completely different world, so to speak.

I always show my sponge bob tattoo proudly, even at mass. It is right above my butt crack, and the priest loves it!
Also, taking after our most famous celebrities, I have no problem driving under the influence, having sex on camera, having sex with the same sex, having sex with (oh, can't say it on here) but Michael Jackson's my hero!
And O.J, he really knows how to make that red carpet appearance

I am sorry for your loss, I recently loss a granddaughter and always say she is my star in the sky! It would look really nice on your wrist - that a beautiful idea! Another thing could be two tiny angels -

I only cover mine up around grandma so she wouldn't freak out! Other wise - I let them show

It is up to you whether you cover your tattoo at different events. Me personally, I would cover it for any occasion that is formal (weddings, etc.).

I didn't realize we needed permission from the "stars" as to how to run our life.
Do what you think is best and appropriate.
