I really want the CTS but it is not practical considering I live in Michigan and it's rear wheel drive.

well with the lincoln and the two fords you have an available all wheel drive system, but that cuts gas mileage, yet totally worth it in the MI winter. the mazda will get the best gas mileage and have the most pep out of all of them. really you can't go wrong with either the mkz or fusion because they are based on the mazda 6, which makes them both amazing cars. i would pass on the caddy because it probably has the worst reliability out of the 5 and probably has the highest insurance. if i had to pick one - it would be the fusion with the all wheel drive package - decent gas mileage and great dependability. don't forget to check out consumer reports. also selling point on the 2008 fords and lincoln - the new microsoft sync system - its brillant

If i had to chose, i would probably chose the top 2 on your list.
Go to Yahoo Autos website and look for a vehicle there. Last week i found a 2002 Mercedes coupe for $9,500. Mercedes don't break down, so go look for a nice car there!

I'd go with Lincoln MKZ.
