If you can, God would be wrong. Since God can't be wrong, you can't make that free choice and therefore you have no free will.

Towelieban Barbie: It's not a straw man. The bible itself claims god is omniscient. That means he knows what you will choose to do.

And if God is omniscient and already knows what he himself is going to do, is he also omnipotent enough to change his future mind?

I'm not a Christian. Nonehtheless I'll answer it anyway.
Humans are free to choose in their nature(God given). However, this doesn't mean that I can cheat in my choices; because God is All knowing. This question rises another question: can I choose my destiny(fate)? definetly, the answer must be yes! For example if I am at a point of turning either left or right my choice would determine my fate, simple.

Yeah~! someone else who has issues with the whole free will thing!! No such thing as free will once you convert to Christiantiy because at that point you have "dedicated" your life to being Christ-like which gives you a limited number of options thus eliminating free will. Since God is omniscient, He knows what you are going to do so there is no "changing" it because He will know that you are going to do that too! It says in your Christian Bibles, I knew you before you were born, before you were in the womb" God places you in certain situations in order for you to live out the life He has pre-destined for you regardless of what car you drive or if you even have one at the particular time, all part of God's will isn't it? If everything is part of God's will, even things like what underwear to wear for the day have been pre-destined for you...Christiantiy is the greatest scapegoat excuse for human behaviors that I have found yet...."it's all God's will"....nice

Straw man arguments are caricatures and exaggerations and Towelieban Barbie's characterization of your question was wrong. Anyway I believe you are correct, no free will, but in the sense of not having the ability to look to God for salvation. This allows day-to-day decisions on our own, with a final destination of Hell save for God's grace. The verse in Joshua comes to mind, "choose this day whom you will serve" -- meaning pagan god 1 or pagan god 2, and you will be left in your sins. Yup, definitely free will, but nothing to be desired. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord -- predestined, foreknown, saved!

No. Only God knows the future. If we knew what God knows, then we'd be omniscient. So we choose based on our free will and judgment. And we trust God.

Ah we can go when we want to the night is young and so am i
And we can dress real neat from our hats to our feet
And surprise em with the victory cry

I say we can act if want to if we dont nobody will
And you can act real rude and totally removed
And I can act like an imbecile
I say we can dance, we can dance everything out control
We can dance, we can dance were doing it wall to wall
We can dance, we can dance everybody look at your hands
We can dance, we can dance everybody takin the chance

edit:

In all seriousness, it seems this question is over most people's heads, I see one answer that critically addresses it though. Their arguments that god can choose what he knows and not knows is seriously flawed. There is no purpose for got to shut off what he knows, and is utterly ridiculous. Either we have no true fee will or god is not really god.

If the future is knowable then there must be only one possible future, which means that the universe is entirely deterministic. If the universe is not deterministic then omniscience is impossible. Either way, free will is a meaningless concept.

A great many people haven't thought this through...

Your question is self-contradictory. You cannot both freely choose to do X (as per the first part of the question) and freely choose not to do X (as per the second part). If God knows you will choose to do X, it's because you will choose freely to do X. His foreknowledge of your freely chosen choice doesn't negate that you freely chose it.

How does GOD KNOWING what choice we will make, NOT make it FREEWILL (individual choice)? I have always wondered the rationale behind this thinking.
He is all knowing BUT we have our own minds and a ability to decide what choices we make, otherwise we'd be robotic. Who chose what car you drive, you or God? Who chose what vacation you'd take this year you or God? .... It's not that hard to grasp.

To put it simply, God knows way before you chose to do X. And without interference, He also knows that you chose not to do X. Therefore it's still your free will as you have the final say.

If God knows I will choose X then He also knows I will freely choose not to do X. In neither case has God influenced me. I have free will.
