No, I wasn't going to use scripture for my reasoning. I never did understand that. When someone doesn't believe in the bible, why use the bible to convince them of God?
When I was a child, I prayed for something to happen to me as an adult. A certain circumstance. Later I forgot all about it. Then at the age of 35 it happened. Then i remembered my prayer and it blew me away. I know for a fact God is real! NO doubt at all.
Also Christianity has a rich history which started with the jews at the beginning of time. The bible is filled with historical facts that Archaeologists use and has been proven very reliable. We have over 5000 documented ancient findings of scripture, many in different languages, all the same. WE have the dead sea scrolls to prove this also. The Vatican just bought 2 gospels dating 90 ad, the same as we have today. There is prophesies that has come to pass from the bible that proves it's reliability. Over 300 just for the man Jesus.
We have non christian evidence of Jesus from Tacitus and Josephus both historians. And a Governor named Pliny the Younger who all wrote about "Christos" and his followers the Christan's.
Archaeologists have found the tomb of Caiaphas who was the Pharisee that brought Jesus to trial.
Jesus WAS a real person who was an historical figure. Even well read Atheists KNOW this.
We have eye witnesses who had every thing to loose by claiming to be a follower of Jesus. Why? When Jesus was killed they scattered. Afraid. BUT when they saw he was resurrected they became bold. Why?
Since the bible is reliable, and Jesus WAS here you must decide.
Was he a nut? A liar, Or who he claimed to be.
For me, I personally have had MANY supernatural experienced with God/ Jesus. So many in fact I started keeping a journal.
God is real, Jesus is The Christ and there is salvation in no other name.
I've searched other religions, I've looked at both sides of this issue, God and not God. I believe there is too much evidence that shows there is a creator and he's the God of the bible.

I choose to believe in a higher being because I like the idea of everything having a purpose and reasoning, from the smallest of things to the greatest of things, that something intelligent designed it that way and not some happenstance, The spirit inside of me that is connected to my environment and to those around me, all of the connections that are made, from the smallest insect, animals, plants, trees, water, sun, mammals, moon, the stars etc everything seen and not seen. Blessings.

My little bunny, you know I love ya and I did read your whole question, lol.
I don't use scriptures to try to explain or prove what I believe. I realize that those who do not believe in the God I do also consider the scriptures to be pointless. . .although I know many have read them, well there is just no meaning there.
I believe in God because I truly believe that I have experienced Him in my life. . .I honestly truly believe that with everything in me. . .it is called faith. I wish there was something greater or more hands on to explain it, but it is by my choice and my faith that I believe in God.

I believe
A) because I want to. It's hopeful.
B) because I have been given many gifts in life that I have viewed as blessings such as my loving fiance Charles who is very close to what I dreamed up as the perfect husband in my teenage years
C) because when my best friend was killed this past year the only thing that alleviated my anxiety and constant plague of nervousness was believing in God.
I know these reasons aren't good enough for most people but they are for me. The only thing that gives me peace in my soul is believing, so that's the path I've chosen to take with my life. :)
Thanks for asking. :)

Well, when you go to the bottom line, you believe because you want to believe. I know that a lot of people quote their holy books as a reliable source, but since those books are supported by faith, they are no proof at all for someone with different ideas.
The concept of god is also flexible. I have met so many people in my life that believe in god in their particular way (which, most of the times, conflicts with the way their faith asks them to believe it).
The only reason to believe in god, in my opinion, is that you want to believe in something bigger, something that encompasses everything in the world and time.

My beliefs are personal and I don't feel the need to "justify" them, but I will give you a personal answer.
The nearest thing I have to scripture is my NVQ's level 4 Biology, Physics and Chemistry( I know they are low level) I only studied them for 1 year in college before changing course.
I will write you a full answer and mail it you, if you would appreciate, I will not do this without invitation though. I have no intention of changing your views, it would not make me or my diety happy.

I believe in the God of the christian Bible because he revealed himself to me. I was always open to the truth and went on a spiritual journey but in the end i just asked God to reveal himself to me and He led me to the Bible. Believe me i was as sceptical as anyone. I don't think it it up to Christians to prove their God is real . I f He exists He can do it. Ask and you will receive. I would give this question to whatever God you were wondering about.

The tale of the Great Seytnurr, the Iron Badger, and how he carved out the Universe has been passed down by "word of mouth" (the closest your language has to our tradition) from badger to badger since time immemorial.
We have no need of "scripture". Nor will each badger in turn tell the story exactly the same way to their cubs. It is the same story, but each of us tells it our own way.

Life is simply to complex to have happened by accident. I firmly believe in a Creator. There is simply too much evidence to believe otherwise. In short...Humming birds.
