My apologies if this is off topic, but I have to get this off my chest.

The judge Roy Pearson, who lost a 54 million dry cleaning lawsuit had filed an appeal with the court, essentially, continuing on with the lawsuit.

The Chungs (dry cleaner owners) admit their mistake, had offered $3,000 to replace the missing pants prior to the original court hearing, and had even asked the judge not to fine Roy Pearson during the verdict for the payment of their own legal fees ($85,000). Now this judge is at it again, finding a way to get these dry cleaners.

As a side: WTF!!!!! Is this Roy guy for real? I mean the dry cleaners admit mistake, offered compensation and was gracious enough to foot their own legal bills when it could have gone his way? WTF?

Am I thinking level headed here? Is it just me or is this guy Roy Pearson just out to get vendetta after getting his ego bruised?

If they agreed to pay for their mistake and legal fees it definately sounds more than a vendetta, sounds like he is trying to get Rich. That is shameful.

Sounds as if the dry cleaners did the right thing, this Roy needs a kick in the butt of reality. I DOUBT his clothing cost 54 mill. He should have settled with them as they offered. Now I hope he loses it all for trying to be so greedy and tying up the legal system for more important cases. What a shameful man.

I think you are right on the money, it is his ego. I hope the laundy cleaners win again.

I hadn't heard about the appeal. What a dope! Roy Pearson is just out to "prove" something to these dry cleaners! His ego got bruised and instead of being a man about it, he's acting like a sniveling three year old! Hopefully the appeals judge will agree with the first judge and MAYBE the whole thing will finally die down.

Sorry, my answer isn't very polite.

This case is really ridiculous. He has no grounds to sue the dry cleaner owners for that amount. He would have come out ahead if he had just accepted their original offer to compensate. I don't understand why the judge in the original suit didn't throw the case out for it being so frivolous. Maybe that judge needs to be dismissed as well as Pearson because it's obvious they are not properly advocating justice.

Absolutely, he's motivated, not necessarily by money, per se, but to re-establish some semblance of respect after the legal fracas he's brought upon himself. He might be appealing the lower court's decision -- partly to further punish the Chungs by forcing them to incur more legal bills -- because he's desperately hoping there's some feeble-minded appellate court judge who might empathize with him and, thus, give his outlandish lawsuit grounds for continuance.

If I were the Chungs, I'd go after him in a separate lawsuit for harassment. Yet, is it worth fighting an insane person in the court of law?

Plaintiffs like Roy Pearson give our legal system a bad rap. Can you imagine standing in front of him in court? I'd have to fight hard to call him, "Your honor...."

I think this guy is just asking for the Chungs to reinstate their suit to recover the $85,000 in legal fees.
Not to mention, it's only going to get worse as they have to defend themselves in the appeals process. I think they should "take him to the cleaners." (Pun very much intended)
Not to mention, what does this say about Roy Pearson as a judge?!

Oy. I was stunned when I saw he was appealing. The Chungs even let him off the hook for legal fees, as some kind people held a fundraiser to pay their fees. What a vicious little man who can't let a perceived slight go. I can see him taking it as far as he can go, and I hope the appeals judge dismisses with prejudice.

It ain't about the pants, it ain't about ego, it's about the bucks. The sorry bast*rt should have to pay the legal expenses of the people he is suing, be dis-bared, and impeached as a judge for abusing the legal system. The judge is a black guy and it would be interesting to see if his brothers would OJ this guy.

I think that the judge should have to pay for all of the court costs of everyone else when the case falls through again.... it's scary to think that this man is a JUDGE and what the hell he's been doing for his entire career that he would EVER this such a case was appropriate...

it's really disgusting to me.

I don't know; the judge in charge of the case should've dismissed it once the guy set foot in the courtroom THE FIRST TIME!
