I was trying to give one of our cats her medication through her mouth, but was having trouble since I had never done it by myself before. While I was trying to get her mouth to open up, one of her paws got free of the towel I was restraining her with, and she scratched at my face, but ended up getting one of her claws INSIDE my nose, which made it bleed.

This cat is an outside cat, and does eat small wild animals on occasion, so I'm a little worried about some sort of infection, but I'm not sure how to go about cleaning the wound, since it's in my nose.

Any suggestions or advice?

Don't put peroxide on any open wound.

Do watch it for infection and if it does get to DR asap!!

To give meds I would hold in front of you by scruff. The mouth will remain slightly ajar to slip a syringe in and squeeze

Clean the wound with hydrogen peroxide and get to your doctor or local health department for a tetanus shot if you haven't had one in 8-10 years. It's best to consult your own doctor for exact medical treatment. Don't waste any time. Good luck to you in NOT getting any type of infection.

Ouch - that must have hurt like the dickens. Swab the inside of your nose with hydrogen peroxide - it'll kill any germs. But that's a pretty sensitive area up there, so keep it as clean as you can and if you can dab some neosporin on the scratch that'd be a good idea.

Go and see your doctor. My daughter was three years old when she got scratched by our kitten, who was also an outside cat...the next morning, my daughter was paralyzed from the waist down....

Our doctor referred us to a specialist and she got treatment which, thankfully, restored her ability to walk again.

I'm not trying to scare you however, these things can be quite serious.
