I have a 7 month old kitten. I have had two foster babies for almost 8 weeks now. I got them when they were one week old. My 7 month old has never had a problem with them. He would play fight with them once they could actually walk and run around. He would lick them and clean them.

Yesterday I took both of them back to the shelter because they were due for their first set of shots. The male baby kitten also got neutered. The female baby couldn't be spayed yet because she's too young.

So anyway, I brought them home, and ever since yesterday, after coming home from the vet, my 7 month old has been hissing at them. He has never done this before. It almost seems like he is hissing more at the male baby then the female baby.

Why do you think he is behaving this way after 7 weeks of having them in the house?

perhaps the 7 month old is hissing because of the smells brought back from shelter where they got their shots, etc?

smells worry animals sometimes. i'm sure that, given a few days, your 7 month old cat will settle down.

take care.

This one's pretty simple. Your 7 month old can smell the scents from the other animals and the vet from being spayed. Give both kittens a good bath with KITTEN soap or BABY shampoo and get the scents off of them and everything will be back to normal. Best of luck to you, this should work.

My cat did this with my kitten. The cat smells the vet and is not happy about it. Dab a little vanilla on the back of every cats' necks and that will help them all smell the same and the hissing should subside pretty quickly.

perhaps he now smells like other cats. or maybe the older one senses something "wrong" with the neutered kitty. i suspect they will all adjust.
