my nose is long suffering, sensitive to smoke and pollutants. but lately it is my facial hair, my long beard, which feels a tingling and uncomfortable sensation when it senses [?] smoke. how can this be? is this normal? thanks for any replies...

It is more than likely your skin, but the beard hair is trapping the offensive particals next to your skin. YOu need to stay as far away as you can, or wash your beard during the day, to rid yourself of the trapped badness.
Or, shave, but I have a friend who wouldn't shave if I begged him to, so I know that is probably not an option.
Good luck!
