I am going to pick up a job for the next year and I'll probably just do something like waitressing b/c I can make more money in less hours w/ much more flexibility than a 9-5. I am also going to school on Mondays and Wednesdays. My husband will put the kids to bed the evenings that I work, but he has to be in bed around 7-730pm b/c his shift at his work starts at 3am so he has to leave our house around 130am.
Mornings that I go to school we will have to be up and out the door by 6am.
We have a 2.5 year old and a 10 month old. Is 7pm too early to put them to bed? Anyone with early bedtime experience?

Not that I should justify the post below by rocktrip..... but just FYI up until now I've been a stay at home mother, so they've been going to bed between 8-9pm and up around 7-8am every morning. All of our schedules will be changing in the next few weeks. I've never attempted a 7pm bedtime (unless special circumstances), so I wanted advise from those who have. Thanks for the judgement though!

It isn't too early. If they are used to going to bed later, then gradually make the bedtime earlier by about fifteen minutes each night until you reach the 7:00 bedtime.

No way until our kids went to were 5 they went to bed at 6:30 and 7 pm, we stopped the naptimes and they did just fine, we always put the little one down a half hour earlier and that helped alot. My boys have always slept 12 hours a day and they are 12 and 9 now. They play hard all day and that is the key to make sure they are tired and havent just sat in front of the TV all day. They should be fine. Besides on the morning you go to school you will be getting them up at 5am so they should do fine. I would start the schedule change a least a month early , with winter comming and darker hours earlier that should help too.

No I dont think so especially if you have to be out the door by 6 am. If they don't go to bed that early they may be crabbier in the morning and throughout the day. My 7 month old goes to bed at 7-730 and sleeps til 6am because that's when we have to be out the door. I think it will be good for them to get into a routine that also works with you and your husbands schedules. Good Luck!

That's a little early. My 18 month old goes to bed at 7:45 and my 8 week old goes to bed at 7:30. I'd say put the 2 1/2 year old to bed at 7:45 and your 10 month old at 7:30. Hope this helps!

I feel that's way too early but that's also going to depend on when you normally put them to bed and how their sleep patterns are. It you don't normally put them to bed until later it could be a problem for your husband actually getting them to sleep and then he won't get the rest he needs for his job. Do you have a relative close by that might be willing to help out on those nights or can you afford a babysitter for say a couple hours each night? Either way, it could be a tough transition. Good luck.

I think it's fine. But it'll be tough with daylight still. Make sure you have dark blinds in their room. Give them a few days to adjust and it should go smoothly. My kids are in bed by 7:30/8:00 during school year when my husband and I work. Good luck.

Both my 5 year old (in school 5 days a week) and my 2.5yr old have 7pm bedtime. My daughter is zonked out after being in school all day and waking up at 5.30am and its the perfect bedtime for a 2.5yr old who also wakes around 5.30am everyday.
7pm is great if they are going to be awake on the days you go to school by 5am to be out by 6am.
Go with it. The 10mth old could probably go to bed anywhere from 6pm.
Good luck

yes its too early...but with a 2.5 year old and 10 month old , it shunt be a problem...the thing is u shud continue with a schedule on a daily baisi...u cannot sleep one day at 7 and the other day at 11...then it wont work...
in Summary u set the rules and staying by the rules helps u ..then why not follow them ;)..my cousins sleep by 7.30...their kids are all bubbly by 5.00 am morning...problems arrive only when there is a party and he has to take his kids along...they are all yaawwning in the party hahaha

7-7:30 is perfect. That will give them the 12 hours for that age. But start now and stay consistent even on the off days. That is important.
