I could not start my Saturn this morning; it would not ever turn over. When I tried another key, it started fine. I have a combination key/fob. Could it be a key problem, or is that just a coincidence?

I'd focus on the battery first. The battery cable connections are infamous (on any car) for corroding and interfering with the flow of juice to the soleniod and starter. Inspect and clean these and then consider a charging system diagnostic ($20) that will check the battery and starter and alternator.
This will give you an idea of what it isn't before you invest in some electrical trouble shooting costs at a later date.

Good Luck!

does the fob work to unlock the doors? if not try taking it to your local dealer and replacing the battery.

The electronic key may have been damaged. if that is the case then you will have to have a new key cut and programed.

looking at about $100... expensive key
