in the last 10-14 days i have had a series of symptoms that to me are not all that alarming...until I discovered the lump.

and the first 2 were unsettleing, but I just figured I wasn't drinking enough water...extremely bad smelling urine, and gas( were talking the same smell for about 2 weeks) I am concerned about kidneys maybe? I have not changed my eating habbits at all...and have never had these problems before.
I have also been very achy...sore muscles, and it seems that my joints are achy as well.

typical allergy symptoms...sore throat, drainage, headache, fatigue, etc...
any clue what this could be?!
.
The only thing different is that I quit smoking 10 days ago...however, i believe this is unrelated

If you have an infection, you may have a swollen lymph node. They can be found running in chains down the back of the neck, in the throat, under the arms, in the groin, among other places. Your node will swell up below the infection, so if you have a sore throat or ear infection, your nodes can swell up either in the throat area or under the arms....your aches and pains, fatigue etc could be your body fighting off an infection. Are you running a fever? That's a good sign of infection as well...unfortunately, based on your symptoms, there's no way of telling what you might have. Could be mono, could be strep, could be an upper respiratory infection, sinus infection, tonsillitis, or just an ingrown hair in your under arm....one can't tell....you should get to the doctors office though...if it is an infection you'll need some antibiotics and a work excuse :D Your doctor may want to order some blood work to check for mono or a throat culture to see if it's strep throat...and maybe a cbc just to have.
Good luck and hope you feel better

Since you are having other symptoms your body could just be trying to fit off your infection(sore throat) it could just be swollen glands that are found in your neck, armpit, and groin area.Cancerous lumps are usually fixed and not painful. Swollen glands on the other hand are painful and moves around a little bit when you push on it. If it doesn't go away when you get better than i would definately go see a doctor.

Do not listen to Layla.

Regardless of the other symptoms, if you have a lump and you are concerned (which you should be) go have it checked out by your doctor. One hour of inconvience vs untimely, painful death. You do the math.

Overall, after reading this, I'd suggest you go to the doctor's anyway. At least to ease your mind.

Good luck.

P.S. Layla ~ if I were you I'd not be so casual in offering advice to a person concerning lumps and such. Whether you understand it or not your words have an impact here. Imparting terrible advice is not recommended. Especially when it comes to health related issues.

You are right about the quitting smoking being unrelated. Congratulations on that!

As for everything else- A number of things come to mind, including strep or cancer. You should be talking with a physician about this.

Good luck!

Go to the doctor, maybe you have some type of infection. The achy and fatigue sounds like mono to me, All the symptoms should be checked out by a doctor to rule out anything serious.

You have something going on, and it is not at all likely to be related to quitting smoking. The lump could easily be an inflamed lymph node and not "just a cyst". I doubt that it is cancer.
The craving for nicotine, which I assume that you have, is only making matters worse.
Please go see a doctor.
