Most likely his diet. What he is eating or drinking can be a big cause in his recurring kidney stones. My wife used to get them frequently, and we pinpointed iced tea as the main culprit. We cut out the iced tea and she hasn't had a stone since (three years).

Increase the water intake. Less proteins. Some people are more prone to make stones. he needs to flush his kidneys with more water so they don't get so big. He should drink a certain amount each day. If that doesn't work he needs to see a urologist where that can analyze his urine and determine the actual makeup of the stones and treat them accordingly.

He should take the stones to his doctor. They can analyze them to determine the cause of their formation. Not all stones are the same. The doctor may also choose to do a 24 hour urine collection. Between the two; most likely they will be able to determine what he should avoid to prevent kidney stone formation.

Often it results from not drinking enough water, which causes the formation of kidney stones. Does he drink a lot of alcohol? (Christmas eve!!!) It dehydrates the body.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.

They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!

This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.

It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.
