Critical thought is important actually.
If it makes someone feel ridiculed then they deserve it.

I can speak from experience on this.... you can't find a satisfying life while doing that. Though it does become "fun" in a sense, but after a while you end up bitter and hateful even towards those you care about because your life ends up being nothing but one insult after another towards other people. An apathy of sorts sets in and you end up losing that attachment to emotions you once enjoyed. Sooner or later you end up realizing that criticizing and ridiculing others does nothing for them and makes you look bad, even if you feel you are doing the right thing by ridiculing others. It's just not worth going out of your way to do these things to people... neither side benefits from it.

I'm sorry. I'll try to be happier. I already started stopping and thinking about all the good things about what I was criticizing and was ashamed at seeing the truth. It comes from an old Freudian idea of letting it out so you won't burst. They say it came from comparing things like freezing pipes to people. Not good. Emotional Intelligence or rather the lack of it, is the root of the problem. Stuffing emotions makes you sick in every way. try trans4mind for free ebooks. A few pages hear and thare will do wonders. You don't have to thank me, just enjoy your new relationship. That'll make me happy too. Come on and let's get that namaste thing working in you life.

I don't think it is possible. If one constantly criticizes/ridicules others, they are operating from their ego, which, ultimately, can never be satisfied and does not operate in their highest good.

it can't but admonishing someone for not doing right is something that must be done otherwise that someone could destroy themselves and others.
if your criticizing for looks or clothes or something like that well doesn't tv do it everyday? you watch TLC or any talk show people are always criticizing and ridiculing and that is considered a form of entertainment.

Because true satisfaction is unconditional.... and will be constant whether criticising / ridiculing others or not.
I mean... I'm satisfied with my existence, no matter which way it goes.... but yet I will still criticise and mock people plenty. I just don't "need" to do it. I do it because I want to.

Through humanism. Humanism is a philosophy of life inspired by humanity and guided by reason. It provides the basis for a fulfilling and ethical life without religion.
Humanists make sense of the world using reason, experience and shared human values.
Humanists see no convincing evidence for gods, the supernatural, or life after death.
Humanists believe that moral values are properly founded on human empathy and scientific understanding.
Humanists believe we must live this life on the basis that it is the only life we'll have -- that, therefore, we must make the most of it for ourselves, each other, and our world.
Humanist philosophies have arisen separately in many different cultures over many thousands of years. Whether or not they use the term humanism, tens of millions of Americans and hundreds of millions of people around the world agree with the humanist philosophy of living a happy and productive life based on reason and compassion.

If we have no one to criticize and feel better than how on earth are we supposed to feel good about ourselves?

It is possible. All critism doesn't come from suffering.
If people feel ridiculed, that is a problem they have with themselves, by not being able to handle incoming data and treat it objectively.

It can't be found. Church can bring a lot of inner peace. I'm not talking about pounding the pulpit, but, just attending church!
