I am personally very against religion due to a personal experience but i am happy for my child to be involved in discussion about all religion (not taught). If my child then decides to join any religion when old enough to make that choice i will still air my opinion so they dont fall into the same trap i did but that will be there personal choice.

None, nor should it be discussed.
The children are young enough that if it is brought up it is easy to steer the conversation elsewhere without them realizing it, so that should be done. Religion is a personal matter-it should stay that way.

High school kids should be getting a portion of each major holy book in a lit class though. It wouldnt be hard to get any religion interested in being included in the curriculum to provide books for each student in the county. It would be taught as literature though, not fact. They are all significant literature on their own.

Joey:
If youre up for showing the bad sides, show the Buddhist people lighting themselves on fire in protests, show the pagans sacrificing living animals, show the atheist in groups like the ALF bombing research labs; show it with no bias, or show it all with the same bias; doing anything else makes you no better than those you fight against.

As a moral atheist Im insulted that you assume I share the attitudes of suicidal Buddhist, murdering pagans, or terrorist atheists.

none should be "taught". some should be mentioned but kids should be allowed to explore all religions on there own with no ideas being forced on them by teachers, preachers or parents. If some one wants a religion they should have the chance to explore all of them on their own with no external pressures being put on them to follow say the same one as their parents or community.

No religion should be taught to children. That is indoctrination. You wouldn't teach a child which political party or ideology to vote for, or which type of music they should listen to. If people want to embrace a religion when they're older, OK (but more fool them), but they should only do do when they're old enough to make up their own minds.

In public schools, NONE WHATSOEVER! Religion should be taught by family and religious leaders, not public school teachers.

I see the atheists are out in force surprise surprise . Christianity in Britain is a part of our heritage and the faith of the monarch and in my opinion a force for good in teaching moral values thanks to left wing humanists this is been corroded along with discipline and we are now suffering because of it. I think its time the militant atheist minority should respect parental choice and the traditions of this country there social experiment in education has already failed with low standards in public education and now they want to make it worse. So yes religion should be discussed in schools with special emphasis on the Christian faith along with assemblies. If the militant atheist minority don't like it then maybe they should create humanist trendy Marxist institutions private of course.

Religion can not be taught; but I believe religion should be kept out of schooling. And as for teaching religion, please remember "anything worthwhile can never be taught, but must be learnt"
