I'll be 24 in a couple of weeks. I also have a college degree. Last yr. My former foster step-niece was 15, going on 16 & told me I shouldn't ever have kids. That was BEFORE she got pregnant. Now she's 17 with a baby. How could a child tell an adult what NOT to do with their life & as a child, they do it? Does she think she's more grown than me?

Somewhere between the ages of 12 and 20, most people feel that they know more about life, than anyone else.

It has nothing to do with her thinking she knows more than you. Because of her experience being a foster child, she probably has a low opinion on the whole parent/child relationship. Then she goes and has a baby. Do you think it was planned? It's not like she fell in love, got married, had her finances in order then decided to have a child. Either this child is a surprise or she so desperately wanted a person to love her unconditionally, that she tried to get pregnant. A lot of teens out there think that way.

Why are you even going to her level on this question? Your 24, she's 17. Your an adult, she is still a child. Kids say alot of things that have no bearing on reality. It doesn't take an adult to make a baby, it does take an adult to raise one though. That is the real question.

Yes she thinks shes more grown up. Shes 16. every child that age thinks they know it all, they've done it all, and they should tell the whole world how to be just like themselves. Let it go she's a child, possibly with some tough times behind her. She'll figure it out when she's 30 with a teenager who knows it all just like she did.

Really, I think that she didn't plan on getting pregnant and it happened by mistake. She is just a kid, I wouldn't put another thought of what she said to you, at this time in her life she is going to need all the help she can get. Good Luck.

She's got pregnant unexpectedly and she thinks her life sucks, being pregnant and all, so she probably told you never to have kids thinking about herself. C'mon, she is only 17 without much freedom as she used to be.......and don't take her comment too personal.....again, she is a teenager.

Who's the adult here? Why do you care what a 17 year old who obviously doesn't make the best life choices herself thinks of you?

Young teenagers are the biggest Know it alls on the planet, they think they know everything and are very judgmental of others...unfortunately, they are usually very quick to vocalize their opinions.
It is only with maturity that one begins to understand that we don't have all the answers to life, nor the right to inflict our opinions on others. Don't worry about what She says or thinks, eventually with a little luck, she will grow up and learn to keep her mouth shut. What I don't understand...is why are you ...the Adult ..are.bothered by what she thinks?????

if u are going to take to heart what a 15 yr old girl is saying then yes she possibly is more mature than u, come on sweets, if u want a baby have one because u can love it and are ready not because your neice has had one and told u not too. it is a very strange feeling when u get pregnant one that most women will agree is amazing and can change your whole opinion on life.
