Are you a veterinarian? No? Then don't do it unless you want a visit from the Humane Society and local police. That's animal cruelty.

bad idea! my dog (adopted from someone who bought her and couldn't keep her) was born at a puppy mill and they did a hack job docking her tail. she barely even has a little nub there and the end is all scars. there are reasons to crop some dogs ears (like the ones with teeny-tiny ear canals that can get infections really easy) and to dock tails (like rotweilers who would knock over a full grown man with their tail totally on accident), but it should be done by a trained professional. I mean, this is on a similar debate to circumcision in men, some people see it as pointless while others seem to feel that there is strong medical reasoning for it. Either way, no matter how you feel about it, you wouldn't try doing it at home. Well, cropping/docking dogs is on the same level. Whether you think it's right or wrong, if someone chooses to do it, it should only be done by a trained professional.

Absolutely not!!! Ear cropping is almost an art form, you need to find a vet that is very experienced in it and one that has done your breed. A vet may be great at cropping Great Dane ears but only so so at Dobies. Ask to see pictures.

Or better yet, leave them natural...why put your pet through the pain? How would you like half of your ears cut off then have them taped for months?

vets recommend that if you do this yourself, it is done within the first 4-5 days of birth. the puppies feel no pain during this time and they are less likely to get infected. After this time, cropping ears and docking tails should only be done by a vet or other professional. There are main veins in the pups ears and tail that may make them bleed to death. sorry, but i hope this helps ya out.

cropping or docking is now ilegal the vets are only allowed to crop or dock if there is no way to get rid of infections of disesses and if it was still legal the pups would have to be younger than 7 weeks old as the oldest they could of been cropped or docked would be 3 -5 days old and after that the nervers start to cover the whole body

NO!
The vet would be the only person to do this.
Are you going to sell them? How do you even know the people that buy the puppies want half of their ears chopped off?

You can't do it yourself and depite what someone else said 7 WEEKS is too OLD! You need a licensed vet and they will usually only do it between 3 and 5 DAYS old. They will usually only do it older when there is a problem with the ears.

You are no way a dog lover to even consider this cruel practice, I can only hope you will show some compassion to your pups.

don't fool with mother nature; would you pick any stranger to operate on you sight unseen; even skilled people mess up dog's ears and then a lifetime of problems and the mess to look at ; NO ; cruelty for looks is another subject

oh my god no, go to the vets and discuss, it will be a dam sight cheaper than the bills you get after messing thier ears up, and it would be so cruel. (Bet this must be a wind up, no one would seriously consider to do this)
